It would be a good time to air it, since they'll be doing the Winter Cup in s2. While I don't enjoy being a wet blanket, I can't recall an example of a standard length anime being announced this close to the start of the season, even for an ongoing series. The one bit of hope is that there does not appear to be any anime taking that time slot on MBS (Code: Breaker is exactly one hour later), but that doesn't mean it isn't being replaced by a non-anime program. (I don't believe it is a dedicated anime time slot like noitaminA or TBS's two early AM Thursday slots). Continuations can certainly push it closer to the wire, but only short form anime seem to have pulled off waiting until the last minute to announce a continuation.
