Whats weird is shows like shangri la... I noticed CR is going to start playing shangri la..... stuff like fairy tale and fist of the north star are on both... is this going to be 2010 all over again?

Shangri-La arrived on CR as a simulcast, but after Funimation licensed it, CR's license ended on June 22, 2012.

Fist of the North Star and some other older Toei titles are on both sites because they date back to the early days of simulcasting and Toei offered them to both sites (and given that Funimation's biggest simulcast, One Piece, is from Toei, they weren't about to say, "No, we don't want those"). Some of the early Gonzo titles are also present on both sites (although only Funimation has English dubs, for obvious reasons).

Fairy Tail may be on both sites, but they don't share any episodes, and likely never will. CR's license for it is unique, in that they get to keep the episodes only for 30 days, and Funimation has only the early episodes. A rather large unlicensed gap exists between the two.

The Lineup page now has Cardfight Vanguard Link Joker under continuing simulcasts so Cardfight Vanguard fans can rest easy.

And it looks like Aniplex of America licensed Vividred Operation .

AoA has been upping its game in the last few seasons. Makes me wonder if we'll get Nekomonogatari(Black) as a catalog title(I've read that it will stream in France next week). AoA would probably make a profit on doing a Fate/Zero style import of the Nekomonogatari(Black) BDs since the price would be close to what they are charging for Bakemonogatari

What happened to the days where good anime like Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the shell, Samurai Champloo, and other greats released. Now a days is all this cliche moe crap and 3 minute long series.

This is one of the worst lineups I have ever seen.

Which decade or year would you be referring to, specifically? The 3 titles you mentioned spanned 15 years. Even if we'd to discount the last GITS movie, it's still a period of 10 years. That's 3 good titles in a period of 10 years that you named, not in 1 season or 1 year.

Every season, there's dozens of mediocre series. If we're lucky, we might get 1 or 2 outstanding series in a year. There is no Golden Age of great titles. Every time someone mentioned the good old days, they're referring to a span of 10 to 15 years. Sometimes longer.

It it entirely unfair to compare the number of great titles that were released in a span of 10 to 20 years, to a span of a season or a year or two. If you'd to look at what was released during the season or the year any of the titles you had mentioned, you'll find there were more misses than hits. No different then as compared to now.

For the record I like shorts. Loved Teekyu, Poyopoyo, Chitose Get You. Enjoying the shorts this season too.

So far, twenty new series this season! Of them...

13 are full length 22+ minutes
Gdgd fairies 2 is likely 15 minutes again
Senyu is 4:30
Osaka Okan 3:30
Mangirl! 3:30
Yama no Susume 3:30
Ai Mai Mi 3:00
Ishida and Asakura 2:30

So almost 2/3 are normal length shows. 13 is a good number of full length new shows and the 18 continuing titles are full length.

Catalog / late title Wooser is 4:00

I know the people above have been arguing that every season is filled with mediocre shows, but I really do feel that this season is particularly bad. Usually there's one or two shows which are fun or interesting, but I can't find anything that stands out here. It all just seems the same dull formulaic stuff. I like Pet Girl, but even that isn't really that fun of a show, especially when you compare it to My Little Monster from the fall or Moyashimon from the summer.

It used to be that even if the new shows were dull, you could fall back on the long runners like Bleach, Sket Dance, Beelzebub, or Gintama, but they're not around anymore...
