53 myself and only really got into anime in the last few years when I could get it online. A couple of friends who are younger introduced me to the Studio Ghibli movies about ten or fifteen years ago and I fell in love with the art as another artist. My step-daughter got me hooked on Fruits Basket and since then I've never really looked back. I recently succeeded in getting my hubby hooked on SAO *cackle* I have a long standing reputation for acting in age/gender inappropriate ways so adding anime to my hobbies probably isn't all that amazing for me. Well, except for the fact that I don't watch TV (and never have) outside of a few series - which I now watch exclusively online, so WATCHING as opposed to reading is new-ish for me. And I think I like the anime because I love the art - so watching that alone pleases me to death. Now I'm itching to buy Anime Studio...

I'm not much of a forum person anyway, so I skim through, dip in if something interests me (usually gossip about a series I like or might like) and once in a great while I post. I'm long since used to being older/younger/wrong gender on forums (I had one group convinced I was a man for years and I never bothered to correct them).

But I don't really give a shit what anyone thinks of me. WYSIWYG

hehe, I also felt that way in the beginning. I am 31 years old and am crazy about anime. I dont think its a problem with age etc.. I can balance career, study, family and have my time to unwind and watch some anime. Life is about what makes you happy, whatever warms the soul follow it and dont look back!

I've been watching anime since I was 4. I don't think I'm going to stop anytime soon.
My sister still watches it when she has a chance.
And I've gotten my niece into it as well.
She loves the Ghibli movies. She watches them whenever she comes over.

i believe that age doesn't matter in this site... since many users *no offense to anyone* are not telling their true age.... age is just number... and i don't think 29 or even 92 is too old to watch anime or stuff like this... as long that your happy and you don't hurt anyone... the hell they care... and to care to what they will say to you...they don't know anything by the way...

yeah, in the real time people think that we're too old for anime but that's life... they think that since that you're adding another year on your age you should also add or leave some things in the past... it's not in the age of a person that you will measure what he/she learn in life... and if he/she have learn any...

I've been watching anime for 24 years, which is longer than most users on here have been alive.

If they a problem with such, I can point them back to the day care center they crawled from. ;P

I don't feel so old anymore after seeing some of the posts here. Don't usually chime in on the forums because I'm busy working and watching anime. Been watching since before I knew what it was. Voltron, Robotech, Defenders of the Vortex (Cyborg 009 movie), Unico, etc. I'll admit there are some shows now I watch and just think, 'How did I ever think this was good?' There are also some classics, which I think go beyond just 'only a 15 year old should watch this.'

tl;dr version:
Watch whatever you want, the medium doesn't matter if the story is good or fun. I guess, I lost my original idea while I was typing this, not enough coffee.

I'm 41, and have been watching anime since I was a kid, but back then I really didn't know that what I was watching was from Japan. I cut my teeth on Starblazers (the American dub of Space Battleship Yamato) and Battle of the Planets (the heavily bowdlerized dub of Gatchaman). There were a few other shows, like Robotech and Voltron, but I didn't really start consciously watching and seeking out anime until about 8 years ago, when I watched Cowboy Bebop for the first time, and nowadays it's pretty much all I watch. It's kinda nice to know that there are a few other old farts out there like me who enjoy anime -- sometimes I feel like a bit of an oddball.

I think it all depends on the person, I am 25 and I fell in love with anime since I was in high school. My friend he is 29 years old, and he plays video games and watches anime as well, his mama also buys him manga for his birthday and christmas. My brother he is 23 years old and he was the one that actually brought anime to me and since then I have been hooked. So I say it all depend on the person.

31 and the first anime I watched regularly was Voltron when I was a kid. Been watching anime ever since.
