I think its awesome that all ages read manga/Watch anime. You shouldn't find yourself feeling "Lame" for wanting to interact with others and express your love for anime, I'm 18 and love anime! May not be the "Older person" you were trying to address but hey glad to see you on the site and welcome welcome to the forums

I'm 26 and I started watching anime when I was about 19 I believe. I love the stories and interesting characters in anime the most. Also the animation is better than amerian cartoons. My favorite anime show is Cowboy Bebop

I'm 24 and I didn't start watching anime until I was 20. The older I get the more open minded I become towards things I once viewed as beneath me or immature... so I doubt I'll ever stop liking anime unless it all becomes loli trash.

As most others have said (didn't read the whole thread), no age limits on anime. I started in school when I used to run home to see Battle of the Planets and especially Star Blazers. Didn't know what they were at the time (stupid 7-Zark-7). Always had a soft spot for 'cartoons', but didn't really get into anime until about 10 years ago, with Initial D. From there the usual progression to Cowboy Bebop, Gundam, Evangelion, etc. I just love variety and art, especially the music. Now it's pretty much all I watch.
Having said that, I am Senior Staff with the US Treasury, most of my colleagues don't get it so I don't talk about it at work. Doesn't matter, once you reach a certain age you realize it's all good. You are only as old as you feel (I know, lame), but I feel pretty damn young at the moment. BTW Steins Gate is awesome.

I'm 27, in college for a systems engineering degree. I've been into anime my entire life, but I don't watch nearly as much of it as I would like. :)
Agreed.

I am 50, started with Kimba the White Lion, Robotech and loved it ever since. I passed this on to my wife who is the the perfect age and body measurements and my daughter who is 11. If you put all the unique shows that I have watched it would play non stop for 2 months and 1 week which would indicate being serious.
Most of my peers regard anime as simply cartoons so they think I am an idiot. I love it because I can watch a show with my 11 year old daughter and enjoy it as much as her. We have watched Cardcaptor Sakura, Clamp School Detectives, Angelic Layer, Princess Tutu, Kobato, most of Studio Ghibli and many many many more. We spend hours talking about the shows and about life. So I see anime as a vehicle to connect the geezers like me and the young like my daughter.

I am 52 I started waking Speed racer in the late 1960s but did not get serious about watching anime until 2008. I understand the awkwardness of being and older anime fan especially attending and anime convention. I decided to do something about it, from 2009 I run the Otaku over 25 panel, a panel for older anime fans at Kumoricon (anime, Portland OR \ Vancouver WA). I will doing the panel this year at Kumoricon this year. My partner in crime runs the older anime fan panel at Sukuracon.
I hope other older fans my think about running older anime fans at a con near you.

There are a few older people on this site. The younger ones just make more noise.
