I'm still an active fan at (almost) age 34.

Was anything said to the fact that the people who created ,design, and produced anime are most likely ....adults?

It's rare for anyone except adults to create television programs, comics, video games, novels, and so on. Of course, there are some exceptions... but in order to be published, one usually needs to have an adult level of professionalism.

Hey everyone! I have commented to Crunchyroll forum posts before but I don't think I have ever started a thread here! So. here goes!

I wanted to address something that have been wondering about for a while. How many older anime fans are there on this site? Whenever I look at the posts in the forums, I see a lot of younger people. It's nice to know that anime is becoming popular among the younger demographics. I have been an anime fan since adolescence. I grew up watching Sailor Moon, DBZ, Gundam Wing, etc. Sometimes I feel like of out of place commenting in the forums because of my age. Yes, I'm 29 years old and by mst people's standards I am too old to be watching anime. Anime is a passion of mine and I don't forsee myself giving it up in the near future.

I love this site and the people on it seem like really cool people. I just don't want to feel so lame when I post on the forums. I don't want people thinking "wow, she shouldn't even be on this site. She's ancient." I know it's an exaggeration but I do feel out of place here at times.

Any older anime fans want to chime in? Do you feel like "the old one out" at times?

I'm 7 years older than you and I watch anime daily. You aint that fucking old yet. So enjoy your anime and to the nine hells with anyone that thinks you're too old for anything.

I am 33 here, still LOVE Animes and will still do til the day I die. Heck, I even go to Anime Convention every year here in Montreal, even did some cossplay last year lol, You are never too old to like Animes.

To be more precise I love the Japanese culture as a whole (As you can guess by my picture) but what introduced me to it all were the animes and mangas I read when i was still in high-school so I never plan on stopping my passion not should anyone

I rarely post but like to read stuff when bored. I watched a lot of anime and even "cartoons" from 80's to current. For me it's nice to have something to watch that isn't some reality t.v.,news and flock with the sheep. Don't get me wrong people watch what they want to make themselves happy, but those types of programming to me are a waste of time. My roommate is always loli this and pedo that just cause anime in general is based on teens<we can't help the age of characters> I watch for good stories. To me anime I watch has nothing to do with my personal attraction or anything sexual. So I just return reply noone wants to hear about your politics programming where most of the males/female there are IRL cheating on their spouses or molesting real people.

I had this issue with dressing up for Halloween still years back just to walk around and enjoy the fun. Not matter how old you get as long as you are enjoying anime/cartoons and not hurting anyone in process then I see no issue Nice to see a post for us in the older gen's

Great thread, thanks to all who have posted here. Other than Astro Boy and Speed Racer I came to Anime and Manga later in life. It is fascinating to see the age and geographical range represented here. It is also refreshing to see 20+ pages of forum posts that are positive and well thought out about a subject that really interests you.

I have 3 daughters, 2 step-sons and a step-daughter and 12 grandkids. Most of the "kids" are gamers and some into manga and anime. They think it is pretty cool that Dad likes the same things they do. I have been to Comic-con twice with one daughter and son-in-law and have Comiket, Japan Expo Usa, and A-kon on my bucket list.

I'm 54 and I've been watching anime since Astro Boy, Gigantor and many others were in black&white only, on WPIX and WNEW out of New York. Is that old enough for you?

I believe there are many more older fans than you would first expect. The older you get the less time you have and more life commitments so I know i just find myself watching anime rather than talking about stuff on forums. Around children and work you just don't have as much time. I have found that over the past year the shows I am watching has changed quite a bit as my tastes have matured. I'm still watching anime just not the same shows I would have done when I was younger.

I've been watching anime knowingly since I was about 7 or 8 thanks to my dad watching stuff like Dominion Tank Police and Space Adventure Cobra with him. He's stopped watching anime in the past 7 odd years (he's 53) but still reads manga instead.

Now I'm watching anime with my son and it makes me really happy that I can do the sorta of things with him that my dad did with me. And nope he's not really old (not disclosing his age) but has stated crazy young instead. At just even a week old he was being fed to GITS:SSS.

I am 21 myself,
I started watching Anime in 2005-2006 (can't remember)
My first Anime was DBZ, then YuYu Hakusho.
I was comfortable to read manga in my school, which was small, (I graduated with 10 other students, and it's a K-12 school)
At the time no one ells was doing that, then, when I was a senior, I started to see Junior High and new High school'ers were reading manga.
In fact, I helped a petition to get manga and anime in the school library.
So I don't think age is an issue, its your attitude and you passion.

I doubt 18 would count as old huh?
Oh well, it's nice to see that all age groups are ALL enjoying amazing anime now.

I've always watching anime or animated shows( South Park). ive also notice that older i get time becomes a problem to kept up with shows but that what cr is for. Honeslty we can all say that all reality shows or games shows are crap and i think i rather be watching anime then that stuff. Everytime a great show comes on regular tv, it gets cancel.

I don't think one is EVER too old for anime. At least, I hope not.
I'm 25 and I've been watching anime since I was 12? Not planning on stopping anytime soon.

I've always kind of wondered if I was too old for it, (I'm 24 this year) and then I stumbled upon this. I'm so glad that there are older fans as well.
