OK folks here it is. A group for the older anime lovers to mingle and discuss anime and trade war stories in a more mature and sometimes not so mature manner. It's primarily intended for folks over 30, but old souls are also welcome. Just don't act like little punks or you will be banned.

Join the group please. I would love to have an active group of mature fans involved...

Be careful what you wish for.

You just might get it.

Ok, you old coots I created a group just for us so join already... Or is that lazy-boy to comfy? Afghan too warm?

I have been actively following anime for about ten years. I typically keep it to myself. Most people just don't understand. They see anime as cartoons like road runner or Tom and Jerry. They haven't seen the stories that tug at your heart or make you want to break something. It's a rich and fulfilling type of story telling that I don't see myself ever walking away from. It is true that I have to wade through miles of it to find something truly exceptional but when it happens it's magic. I'm smiling like a fool for days. Some of the series shows I think are truly great are: The Last Exile, Eureka 7, Ghost in the shell (The whole series), Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit, and Star ship Operators just to name a few. Also movies like Summer Wars, The girl that leaped through time and Spirited away are just master peaces. I wish I could share my love of this medium but every time I try I'm disappointed. I just get patronizing cheap shots aimed at making me feel juvenile for being involved with a medium that's seen as childish. I'm sure most of you are saying "Just ignore them". Unfortunately it's just not that simple. I'm a 43 year old man in a position of respect. I've worked hard my entire life to get there and it would only take moments to undo all that work. For now at least I will continue to conceal my passion for anime but my heart is with my fellow anime fans. Especially the 30 and 40 year old among you. You are not alone.

I've been into games since I got my hands on an Atari (Joust is the best btw). Anime since about 12 or so.

Never going to give up either. But I find a lot of anime fans around my age. I wouldn't judge older anime fans but I am always surprised to find ones over 45 ish.

I'm 35. I cut my teeth on Super Saiyans and Super Dimension Fortresses. I've never been the forum type. I've always kinda been a lurker even when I was younger. But as I read comments on a subject I am passionate about I began to feel it is important to comment BECAUSE I am older. Anime deals with a lot of important life issues. Issues I did not have any examples of. I had to get through many things by trial and error. My parents did not teach me any social skills because they did not really have any. So growing up was difficult with my heart on my sleeve. Having come through it all on my own I am very strong because of it and my social skills are top notch. I began to wonder if maybe I don't have a responsibility to the younger generations to share my experience and knowledge. If I can help just one person become better or share something that makes someone else's life easier, I don't care if I look lame. That's why even if I don't feel like it, I still comment on forum posts. Because it's all I CAN do. And anything is better than nothing when trying to help others.

I am NOT old! Or at least I don't behave and feel it (most of the time...).

Unfortunately, I haven't met anyone my age in my area that's as much into anime as I am.
They must be hiding.

Hey everyone! I have commented to Crunchyroll forum posts before but I don't think I have ever started a thread here! So. here goes!

I wanted to address something that have been wondering about for a while. How many older anime fans are there on this site? Whenever I look at the posts in the forums, I see a lot of younger people. It's nice to know that anime is becoming popular among the younger demographics. I have been an anime fan since adolescence. I grew up watching Sailor Moon, DBZ, Gundam Wing, etc. Sometimes I feel like of out of place commenting in the forums because of my age. Yes, I'm 29 years old and by mst people's standards I am too old to be watching anime. Anime is a passion of mine and I don't forsee myself giving it up in the near future.

I love this site and the people on it seem like really cool people. I just don't want to feel so lame when I post on the forums. I don't want people thinking "wow, she shouldn't even be on this site. She's ancient." I know it's an exaggeration but I do feel out of place here at times.

Any older anime fans want to chime in? Do you feel like "the old one out" at times?

Nearing 30 soon.

I started watching Japanese cartoons back in the 90s. (Yes, anime are cartoons. Deal with it.)

You should have a well rounded life, but you shouldn't worry about the type of hobbies you have as you age. Are you 80 and watching Anime? So what. Congrats on beating the odds. There are many people that never live to grow old. Aging is a gift. Spend it how you'd like, and don't let the world define you (entirely).

Most people just exist. The lucky live.
