Your not too old to watch anime, just too mature to post or like any of these ridiculous forum topics the teens post.

Which is why I rarely post here now.

I've been a fan of anime since I first saw them use it for a video on MTV in the 80's for a song called "Girlfriend". It actually kept me from losing my mind the 18 months I was on chemo treatments and had nothing to do. The long series already completed and new ones to keep up with helped those days really progress. I was watching 30 - 40 episodes a day easily lol. I think a few nurses even started watching some with me after a few months. Anyways, I'll be a fan until I die whether it's tomorrow or 50 years from now.

Though not exactly old (I'm 25) i've never cared for the whole perception of being too old to enjoy something.

Hello all. I'm just chiming in as another 'old' anime viewer. Like most of you, I don't post or comment often, but I happened to see this one at the top of the list when visiting the main page.

Take care all.

There a lot of older anime fans, but most of us have jobs and work so we don't have as much free time to comb through the forums and be an active community member. That being said, if you also look at a lot of the forum topics, they're not exactly promoting mature discussion.

Edit: I'm 21 and also come from the DBZ/Sailor Moon/Gundam Wing era.

43 year old medical doctor. Except for "G-Force" when I was little, I never watched anime at all until the last two years. It's great for all ages. 29 old (sounds like those animes where 25 year old people call themselves 'old man').

Actually, I wonder if some of this stuff was meant for kids at all.

I'm 26 and I've been watching anime since DBZ and Pokemon. I would never feel like I'm too old for anime. Personally, whenever I see someone much older than me who still watches anime, I think it's great. I was 17 when I joined my first anime forum and I talked with people there that were in their 30's and 40's just like anyone else. I just see another person who likes anime; I don't care how old they are. It's a good thing that the older people stick around, so they can remind all the kids that there is more than Bleach, Naruto, and moe. Honestly a lot of anime is loads more mature than the stuff most of the mindless crap adults watch on TV anyways.

People who decided they're too old for anime or devolve into calling them "cartoons" is trying to boost their egos by putting down something someone else likes as immature. Well, with that said they better not tell me they watch American Idol.

^^ This ^^

I rarely ever watch TV anymore. Too much so called "reality TV" clogging up the channels, especially around prime-time when I have the time to watch TV. I work through the morning and afternoon.

I'm 31 and I find most anime that I watch to be far more interesting than what's considered to be popular mainstream TV.

For me, animation is just as valid an entertainment medium as any other and if people want to demean it by calling them "cartoons" and generalizing the medium as being something that should be only for kids, then they can go somewhere else, preferably somewhere I am not, and watch their American Idol or Honey Boo Boo shows in peace.

Oh wow I'm so glad I found this! I'm still pretty young, but I was starting to panic and wonder if I might get uninterested in anime because I'm starting to move away from that "generic" character age where every hero/heroine is around 15-18 years old. (I was worried I might not relate with them anymore)
But I love anime, and I think it's so fun, so it's great to see that there are so many people who kept their passion once they became adults!

I don't consider myself old. I've been watching since Pokemon Kanto, Johto, and Hoiegn was the last generation to finish.
Some animes I've kept on watching + reading such as Naruto from 2004 (Shonen Jump) + Shippuden to recent.
I don't know where Bleach is going from listening to my manga friends.
One Piece is still on going, last time I read was in 2009. My friends says One Piece got better but it's very lengthy.

I am 25, not "old" but sometimes my wife does pick on me for being a huge Anime fan and a hardcore gamer. Some people might find it weird, but who cares! I first started watching anime with DBZ, Gundam Wing, Neon Genesis, and things like that.

I don't have kids, or married for that matter, but if I worked in an office I'd Photoshop Ushio from Clannad AS into a 4"x6" photo print and put her on the corner of my desk. And for kicks have Nagisa as my waifu.
