I'm Atheist I suppose. I definitely do not believe that one man has power beyond belief. But maybe something out there, something bigger then our imaginations can fathom.

Sometimes I get the feeling that people call themselves agnostic and not atheist because of the supposed low level of acceptance that they percieve atheists to have in society (ie, they are afraid of not fitting in as a result). Can anyone confirm whether this is true? It's like they are taking the safe route by not claiming they know or the excuse "atheists have a type of theism that's very similar to that of actual religious followers."
That's a load of crap. Would that mean then I can only be an atheist if I knew god didn't exist, when the definition states it is simply a non-belief in deities?

If you call yourself an agnostic you are *either an atheist or a theist* pick one or the other please.

You don't have to pick either of the choices because there is actually people like me who don't believe that there is a god on this earth or this universe but does not deny the possibility that if somehow god existed, he will impose such a deity figure that he will remain unknowable for the rest of the human race and any other form of alien life form. He/she or it literally has to be bigger than the universe and this is why it will forever remain unknown. So there, I am both, I am certain that god doesn't exist but at any given moment my belief could change if I was to face proof of it existence. Why would my beliefs change? maybe because deep inside me the thought that the possibility of there being a god is not complete zero or the existence of god cannot be dis proven keeps my mind open to any sudden change in beliefs. As for any form of gods on this planet I believe it is all complete crap, nothing but a tool to control people.

I personally think that the prevelance of anime proves to some extent that we as humans long for something greater than ourselves and something outside our reality. We long for romance, adventure, and excitement, but we do not know how to experience these things.

CS Lewis once said, "“If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world”

I think that whether you are an athiest, catholic, muslim, deist, or whatever. We have deep within ourselves a desire to be known and know something greater than ourselves. I don't believe in religious identity, but I do believe in the Kingdom of God, and that the question is not how do I become a christian, but how do I enter the Kingdom of God?

I broke my finger a month ago and some Christian friends of mine prayed for it in the name of Jesus and it got instantly healed! I can only share from experience what I have seen and heard... if anyone is really interested in talking more about anything I have written send me an email: [email protected]

yes, because i find science to make way more sense and have way more evidence than religion. my family is christian, and i read the bible, and i find it to be the most believed fairy tale in the world.

I am agnostic. I see atheism and religion to be complete opposites, so I'm sort of in the middle.

I figure that since we either can't produce actual evidence of a deity or that we do not yet have the means to produce this evidence, we can't really know. It's a big question mark for me.

The topic of this thread is are you an atheist, answer accordingly. This thread is not for your religious debates, neither is it to prove or disprove anything. There will be no arguing or trolling in this thread. Thank you.

As for me, yes I am. I don't have any reason to believe in a god, nor does it benefit me in anyway.

'Anything' means 'anything' to anyone, regardless the topic. Please do not use such a broad term next time.

Atheist, and somewhat anti-theist - specifically fundamentalism and organized religion are more trouble for modern society than they're worth.

Why can't science and religion co-exist?
