I'll have to try and fishing watching the current Gintama episodes that are up now then. I think I stopped at 170 something.... So much Gintama goodness, so little time...

Wanting to get back into some anime :)

Since this series is a mix of new episodes and selected existing episodes, that may be the plan to keep it running with no breaks (or at least running much longer). Exactly what I'm thinking. Anyway can't wait for its return, less than two weeks now q(^w^)p |

This very thing has be a little concerned, personally. Because of the encore episodes, will CR even show this season of Gintama? I don't mind if there are gaps in between weeks that show the encore episodes, but I hope that CR will still show the new episodes. |

Sentai's planning for more gintama due to the movie's sales. Therefore, they could get new Gintama in the future should the releases do well enough.

I just started watching Gintama. From what I saw, which isn't too much, I think it's OK. I guess I expected more from how people praise it. Maybe I'll like it more if I continue watching it. I'm still wondering if I should continue watching the anime or read the manga, any thoughts on what is the better way to enjoy the series?

Thank You Sir Alex

a good way to fully enjoy it would be to know pretty much every anime/manga that they seem to spoof. they spoof everything

True, the series does start off a bit slow, but as you keep watching, it'll really start to grow on you. If you really want to see the serious side of Gintama, try watching the Benizakura arc or the Kabuchi 4 Devas arc or one of the many others. Then you'll pretty quickly see why we love this show so much! :) |

well my group watched part of the Gundam Star Wars parody they did in episode 232-236 and it sure was a blast . A way to introduce this anime to new peeps.
Well i m excited they are back but they are probably just doing enough episodes as much material Sorachu sensei has covered. I dont mind if they have breaks here and there to give sensei time to write more silly Gintama stories. |

But men are always boys at heart until they die. Ore? Are you the guy who loaned me his JUMP? as for the song EVERYBODY HANDS UP! It's the highly anticipated hero's comeback! Hold up your fingers and count down Let's go 3-2-1 MAKE SOME NOISE! |

I started doing a re-watch a few weeks ago and I gotta say it takes around 10 episodes for Gintama to really catch it's stride. I mean, for those first 10 episodes I still found it entertaining but nothing GUT BUSTING LOL FUNNY till later on. The anime is over 250 episodes and 10 episodes is like 1/25th of it. Those 10 episodes are mainly for character introduction and also an introduction of running jokes that span the whole series (which is pretty awesome to me). Gintama has SOOO many characters that ... well here is a good way to look at it. You know how a regular series is like 24-26 episodes and the first episode is mostly character introduction and giving a general feel to the anime? It's like that for the first 10 episodes of Gintama. It got me hooked because it was completely unlike any other anime I had ever seen before so .... I guess if that didn't appeal to you ... watch more! hahahaha I have heard that the manga can get away with a bit more dirty jokes than the anime BUT - Gintama has one of (if not THE) best ensemble of voice actors (seiyuu) I have ever heard. (even by Japanese standards) I mean Tomokazu Sugita as Gintoki is just ... GODLY. |
