What do you think about the topic of death. We all go through this phase. Do you believe in an afterlife, or do you believe that death is simply reverting to the same state that you were in before you were born?

Personally, I believe when you are dead, you are dead. That's it, there's nothing after. You got to make each day count.

Same as above really (unless it was sarcasm I can't tell)... I have a strong feeling I've lived and died more than once. Of course it's just speculation. A woman reader person told me once that I'm a very old soul and that I'm tired of coming back again and again. She also told me reincarnating is chosen. I do want to believe that, but who knows?

I hope there is something like what most people believe heaven to be after you die, I mean who wouldn't want to come across/be with their loved ones and pets that passed away, and be peaceful, basically living in your dreams. Or hopefully something like reincarnation where if you lived life as a good person you'd be born again and have a better life, and if you were a scumbag you'd get a shitty one. But yeah, who knows...

in the buddhist/hinduism idea of reincarnation. other than being in a eden, human are the highest if you were a good person. but the more sinful you are the more likely you'd be reincarnated to something thats considered ranking lower. i would think that flowers are pretty low ranked so you'd have to have done something bad to be a flower. i myself semi believe in the reincarnation system, but not really by the way i described above. i see it more like somehting else. |

When you die, your body gets broken down by microbes. The building blocks of your body, the molecules, gets broken down and that carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, etc. and gets returned to the Earth.
Plants use that to build themselves larger, grow bigger leaves, longer stems, juicier fruits, which in turn are eaten by herbivores and omnivores, who in turn are preyed upon by carnivores, who get hunted by higher order carnivores, etc. until they die and the resources are again brought back to Earth. It's a very simplified explanation of course, whole courses of biology can be devoted to this one subject, but this is how I choose to believe it works. In a way, we all live on, because a part of us is constantly being reborn through the cycle of life. The same organic molecules and fundamental atoms of life that comprise you and I will be use as building blocks and growing material for future life. |

I've always liked the idea of eternal life after death, but am yet to find a religion that can convince me of the idea that it is possible, whereas science can easily convince me that once our heart stops beating cells in our body stop functioning and over a period of time we will decompose in the ground.
Also the idea of returning to the state you were in before you were born is an interesting one, if this were to happen surely that would erase every memory of you that anyone held, as before you were born there would be no memories of you. I do find the whole concept of Religion and the afterlife interesting, but can't see myself ever believing in it. |

It's ultimately unknowable and pretty much irrelevant.
Live your life well and to the fullest. If there is no afterlife then you've lived a good life and contributed to the coming generation; if there is an afterlife then you'll get your just reward. |
