My vote would be for Morgan Freeman. He is the best portrayal of a president ever, and would hands down be the better choice against the jokers running now.

Nope doesn't sound right. Bain Capital was in charge of multiple Leveraged Buy Outs. I am no accounting wizard, but I believe these Buy Outs assumed the debt of the company they were acquiring while using the companies assets as collateral for the loan to keep the company affloat. One of the companies that Bain Capital used this method with was Domino's Pizza (glad to see that worked - their pizza is tasty). However, I believe if the company could not make it, the assets of the company would then be sold off to pay back the loan, therefore dismantling the company.
Bain Capital was not the first to do LBO. It is definitely not the most prominent company out there performing LBO's. And many companies that are still around today in one shape or another have had to use this method to stay alive (read up on Nabisco).

In any rate, Mitt Romney retired from Bain Capital in 1999, but just like any other CEO's of any other business, the name of the past CEO remains on documentation for years after they retire. There are legal reasons as well as just sheer lazy and monetary reasons this happens.
Bain Capital was accused of selling jobs overseas, but Romney no longer worked for them and was already employed as a CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics. He then became Governor of Massachussets in 2002.

well if i was old enough to vote it would be obama. in our history class we had to read an article on what both candidates wanted to do and from seeing what romney wanted to do, i was for obama. romney is against gay marriage which just makes him seem kind of like a prick and he says that things have actually gotten worse in terms of the employment rate since obama became president which isn't completely true it has gone up slightly. also obama wants to raise taxes slightly on the really rich people which makes since because im pretty sure if they can afford these huge mansion they live in they have money to blow. either way people are going to find a reason to hate on any president who is elected for any slight mess up they have. romney just seems like the lets go to war for any reason kind of person

@JDiamond -- Obama's terrible. Don't forget that the man expanded the Patriot Act, signed the NDAA for this year with language allowing indefinite detention of citizens in military prisons, a bill allowing military drones to spy on all of us, signed an executive order allowing 1.7 million illegals to get work permits when Americans can't get jobs, and is using an executive order to pass a cyber-security bill that he was against until it wasn't passed. He also went to the UN instead of Congress for permission to go to war--which is an impeachable offense. The CBO also can't decide what the ACA is going to cost--their estimates grow by leaps and bounds every time they look at it. It's going to cost a lot, and probably be a disaster.

Will one of them plunge the world further under the control of the oligarchy and pay back the ultra religious with banning beverages containing caffiene as well as anime, video games, and tighty whity brief underwear?

I have been in several of these leveraged buyouts. It is called harvesting. In order to keep your job as a manager you have to put a second mortgage on your house and buy stock in the "new" company to pay the new owners back for purchasing the company. The Bainers end up with ownership without paying a dime then they sell off everything. Their accountants even try to sell your personal stuff from your desk if you aren't there. I came back from Mexico, where I had to set up a plant to get my severance pay, and came back and found a note where my desk used to be telling me that my termination date was moved up six months and to go home now. They sell off all the assets then they sell their stock and leave the employees holding the worthless stock and end up loosing their homes and reputation.

I am horrified to think that one of the originators of Baine type harvesting is so close to being president. I hope you like nukes, they are going to be lobbing if he is president. Europe had better be ready for what we have to replace nukes if they don't go along with his wishes.

I KNEW this topic would come up sooner or later!! But I'd really rather just read the posts, than enter an endless argument with someone trying to stubbornly protect their political views.... yep. The sidelines look pretty appealing for me this time.. :D

Keep posting, peeps!

Here's a cute video for those that don't understand US voting. http://electoraldysfunction.org/

Also, watch "Charlie Wilson's War". Even if you don't like the actors, it's a good movie,

Although I would rather keep my opinions to myself, a certain candidate's background in business scares me, but not as much as his delusional running mate's archaic thinking.

Honestly, whomever can get us the hell out of other countries, free us of the debt owed to foreign parties, and reduce/eliminate our dependency on other nations can get my vote.

Your kidding me right?
Yes, he wants to give Health care to those who cant afford it. But he's also forcing ppl who have the money for it but don't want it, to get health care as well. Free? Not entirely. How do you suppose citizens are going to get FREE health care? From yours or your parents' pocket. Which means there is going to be ANOTHER tax. They say the government is going to help you, but really its your neighbors money that's paying for you to live. Pretty ridiculous. The Democrats believe more people should be on welfare and food stamps. It's bad enough ppl take advantage of that. Now it gives ppl more of a reason to sit on their asses and do nothing. Our economy will be destroyed! Those "rich idiots" happen to be the citizens who give donations to charities more than anyone else in the country! Those "rich idiots" became wealthy from either working so hard to live a better life or they received it from the family. Either they worked hard to get where they are now. You call them this because YOU are jealous that you don't have what they have. I can keep going on and on. BTW the Navy Seals killed Osama, Obama took the credit. Our brave military is what keeps this country going. Learn a little bit more of politics before saying the stupidest shit ive read on here. Some of the richest ppl donated 90% of their wealth to charity.

Sounds like the same payment plan I can get with a hospital If I can't afford a bill right now. Most places are pretty flexible already. The key difference? Obamacare will cut a ton of money from medicare and plenty of "70 year olds", are going to lose their current plan which they already like. In replacement, it will be a cheaper form of healthcare, that has longer wait lines.

There will be fewer professionals, because talent will leave the country when this goes through. Which is the opposite of encouraging job growth. Also, more national debt.

Lastly, this plan is not bi partisan. It was forced, and is against what most of us believe to want in a democracy. Why would you want a bunch of politicians controlling health care? They aren't doctors. We shouldn't let the Federal government run health care period. This is EXACTLY why we have "States". So that States can make these sort of decisions.

This plan goes against everything that is good about America. Who are they to say that I have to buy a product I don't want? It's none of their god damn business whether I want health care or not. Yet now many others who do not have a job, are going to be billed for a radical left wing product against their own will.

In what way is this good? It's like me telling a hyperactive kid that he has to buy 5 hour energy or else face a fine and audit from the IRS.
