Why Doctor Who Ruined My Life...

Well, I'm a doctor who fan, and the show is amazing. From its incredible actors, to a stellar plot, and an unbelievable unique setting its one of the best tv shows of all time.

However I can't help but feel that whenever I stop watching a part of me just dies. As I watch, and experience the amazing adventures the doctor and his companions have I can't help but feel how dull life can be. Granted there are some exciting points in my life, and my life is by no means boring. (In fact I just had a party with some friends last night. ) But I tend to compare my life with the life of the doctor, and everytime I compare I just wish that I were in his place. I mean who wouldnt want to travel through all of space and time in a box that is bigger on the inside.

Anyways I was just wondering if any other fans thought this way when watching the show, and if not, what are your feelings when you watch the show?

Not much. They try to make it too British, which is fair enough, but not my cup of tea. For example, I really like Stargate, but they don't have United States all over it. In other words, Doctor Who feels like propaganda to me. I also don't like the music, and the setting makes me feel distant and having trouble connecting.

All for all, I don't necessarily dislike it, but I don't like it too much either. I watch one episode here and there.

I really like it, but the weird explainations for things that happen on the show can get annoying since you know its just made up BS. Plus Amy pond pisses me off no end.

The last series was terrible but its been good so far. Never really got that feeling your describing, though I did get a touch of it when playing pokemon while knowing they weren't real

I really like Doctor Who too and my life felt dull too after watching it. But that's what makes a serie good in my opinion.
I think if a serie, movie or anything else doesn't make you feel dull, it misses something. With something like Doctor Who, you want to travel with the doctor, be the doctor and just travel through time and space. The serie would be pretty dull if it didn't make you feel that way.

I've got this feeling a lot, especially with characters. When a serie ends or a characters dies, it makes me want to look for more information about the character. Just to look for just I didn't know about him/her yet.

Also, Season 6, Best season ever!

Watch the classic Doctor Who series whenever the new Doctor Who takes a break. The old shows are just as good as the new shows, and there are a lot more of them as well. It will take you years to watch every classic Doctor Who episode.

Trust me, I love doctor who and the old series is just as good as the new. The story is brilliant and is executed amazingly leaving little room for plot holes even though their explanation for these holes are bs they make it seem believable which is amazing. If anything the show has finally shown me that I need to take iniciative for my life to make it as interesting as possible, trying new things, doing new stuff, adventuring the world. So in a lot of ways all of our lives can be like the doctors you just need to go out there and make your time worth while. Yes there is times where it makes my life feel dull by comparison (hence why this article was even created), but other times it opens up my eyes to the beauty of this world making living every day in it more amazing.

Yeah ive been watching Doctor Who on and off since 2005 and I agree that it is a good series, but I dont really get that feeling of dullness about my own life... Doctor Who is like almost a different world where there a lot of different things to experience but if you think about it there is a lot you can do in this life if you want to :] Of course it would be fun living life as the doctor but if it was me over time I would have gotten exhausted of all those adventures O.o Still sometimes I think things like if only magic existed or things like that which would make stuff more interesting, but I guess thats why I like science and nature a lot because there are enough amazing things in the world anyway (:

I just started watching it again at the beginning of this season.

I used to watch it in the 80s.

My only thing is, Karen Gillan made me wanna fucking die. I'm so glad she left.

I agree that it sucks having to wait for a new season but that's basically the pain of being a fan of any series be it anime, movies, or TV

Doctor Who is amazing even though I've only been a fan for about 7 or 8 years when David Tenant was the Doctor which was awesome, that was easily my favorite season finale ever with David's last episode my gosh I probably was almost crying my sister thinks I'm crazy for thinking that David was a better Doctor than Matt Smith but they both did amazing job playing the Doctor

I don't really compare my life to the Doctor's because that may get me depressed because he's seen and been through so much. Instead I get hooked on the characters so when a companion leaves (if it's super emotional) like with Rose or Donna then I almost cry or I get emotional. I felt like almost crying for the freaking star whale in the episode The Beast Below. Same with Torchwood too.

ugh i feel the same way! i started watching doctor who with the 2005 series - when the companion was still rose. and damn, i was so addicted and in love with the idea of a time lord coming to earth and taking a companion with him for adventures in time and space that i actually felt sad/disappointed when i realized that my life was not as exciting. i watched and re watched the series... and i continue to follow the recent season with matt as the new doctor. but man... i had to take a long break from that show.... otherwise it bums me out - the fact that my life is really dull!

i feel your pain :(
