laz, this might improve the group- Having an rp based off of SWO I know there are a few here already in CR but none to me are very active (been looking for a good one) and so I would suggest it. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Though I will start doing the research of my own (mechanics-wise and how are people going to do it), do you have any suggestions on how it should be done? How do we pick a character? Are we sticking to the story? Can we have unique characters? etc. etc.?

I promise I will get the Role-Playing working as soon as I can :)

Your welcome and hmmm here is what i have so far:

- Keep all the guilds but wipe the members a clean state no canons unless they are inportant for the story.

- As for story I say a mix we stay close to the story but not enough so that we can make our own other storys as the main one progesses slower than normal.

- Unique Characters? what do you mean? Do you mean OC's? if so then yea.

- Only using skills from the show for now unless there is a lack for each class then only able to make them but with approval of a mod or you first.

Any questions?

Skills; Yeah I'm thinking of building a proper skill-tree chart and posting it on the pages along with attributes for people to look at and follow.

What about time-line? How fast are we progressing? Are we going to progress floor by floor or it doesn't matter?

How many people should be the minimum for an active RP?

Okay answers!:

1. ahh yea yea very nice but it would be different for each class and weapon choice.

2. I would say floor by floor but some would still be ahead of others beacuse of level and such.

3. Well I've seen people run it on 5 people and 2 on others but for here I would say 10 at least more is better but as long as people are active.

Leave the attributes/skills/weapon classes to me! I'll work on them tomorrow after I finish with my University. I'll show it to you once I am done if you don't mind.

Player inactivity is really hard to overcome, I would say because the group is very recently made (I made it yesterday lol), we should increase our numbers and talk to the people more so we can get more RP'ers that will keep it alive. I also have another job to do which is the [Guild] system after we pass our 100 member mark.

So yeah, give me another day or two to get it done, invite your friends and such so we can keep growing!

I agree with YuukiSuzuki that there are not much active members in the RP community here on CR. Developing the mechanics to closely mimic SAO into RP format would prove difficult but possible. Taking a look at SAO, the anime doesn't follow-up with the same mechanics as a MMORPG since showcasing a boss with extremely high HP takes hours to defeat. Would you like to watch or type a drill to defeat such a boss? Nope, unless you're a beta-tester.

Some of the free game apps on the social network sites offer some game mechanics ideas for feasible RP structure. One example would be posting a voting forum to defeat a floor boss. If it reaches a certain hidden number chosen by a moderator(s), then a boss is defeated. Then, the last voter would get the prize. In this way, the RPer would not need to explain in heavy details on how he/she perform such attacks.

Also, time is of the essence. I would rather play a MMORPG game rather than a RP based off of it unless there are some automated feature made available. Perhaps, if someone could develop an app that is recognize by CR and installed within a forum-group, then it would be more plausible and interesting.

The ability to edit/moderate a forum is limited in CR, especially for RP enthusiasts where there are no automated macro's, or other features that encourages people to do so. However, I have seen a lot of successful RP threads outside CR that were basically just threads of people RP-ing.

Developing an app for CR forum Role-Playing doesn't sound plausible at this moment, my hands are already full moderating the threads and innovating new things to keep this place a live.

If there is a will, there's a way, so they say I guess. If you think the RP community on MMO's are good, I would say go for it, its nice if you really have an avatar where you can feel like you can move around in the world. RP threads for the group will be non-intrusive and you can participate at your own will.

why not have something a page to make your char in the page in a real game you have to make a char what it look like and if you what a bio for it to know what you did befor you come to the game and all and a pic of you to and what weapon and what skills you use for your char and what your char name will be

After reading through most of the posts on the first floor, I just found it a bit odd how everyone suddenly teleported to the boss room after the boss information was posted. I do like your system of defeating bosses, but I feel a boss fight would feel rather empty without it fighting back wouldn't it? I like the structure you've laid out but story wise everyone just seems to be jumping from one spot to another.

At the very least you should try to press that the other players follow a certain etiquette while rping.
For example, if one play were to take on several targets solo, obviously this would come, at the very least, to a great cost with your own hp bar. You've only started the first two floors, no player should be that incredibly skilled just yet, and certainly shouldn't be able to take on a mob that easily.

So I suggest maybe taking on some other moderators.
Y'know, a few people to watch the forum, keep it balanced, and maybe even control some of the mob/boss fights to keep things interesting.


Perhaps making a rp disscusion/Etiquette topic would work?

Since I have some free time now, I will try to answer these and why I made the decision.

My initial view of the RP side of the group when I implemented it was a casual, text-based, story-progression focused RP. It was a suggestion from a previous mod and due to through prior research, I found out how they work (because I have no experience on hardcore RP) and tried to add it on a group as something to do "while we wait for the next episode" kinda thing, so I didn't add things like HP bar, levels, experience and loot.

I decided it to be a casual jump in-out RP because of the community itself. As far as the RP progressed through floor 1, you can see that players who made characters don't RP or participate but not regularly. I understand its implications to the story telling, but with a 1-man job managing the whole of the group I decided to give full control of user action.
