I'm not much of a fan of sci-fi and supernatural anime and this show combines both. I've seen the first episode and just WOW! The opening scenes that set the stage for the rest of the series has a
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Highschool of the Dead feel to me, though that only lasts a couple of minutes into the start of the show. Saki's parents, and the kids of the Saint Academy Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide in a vague way gave away that terrible things happen to people who do not develop their powers, but don't say what (clearly). The parents gave away the most information in their fight, and the kids just dodged the subject when Saki was confused about being "the last" even though many other students haven't graduated. We may or may not find out the fate of those children. Shinsekai Yori is one of those anime that you can tell that you're going to see it through and enjoy the ride from the first episode. I look forward to seeing what happens next week. |

Don't think I've replied in the thread for this one on here yet.
Think it'll be an interesting one. But they could've at least made each of the characthers in group 1 look a little bit more diffrent from each other. It's only the red/pink-sih haired girl that's unique looking, plus she's voiced by the same girl who voice Mayuri from Steins Gate. Even the guys in that group look similar to the girls(except red haired girl) :P The MCs: Red haired girl: Spoiler ep 1: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Even the girl who disappeared looks similar to them :P |

I really enjoyed the first episode.
First impressions: - Between the opening and the creepy hints, I thought it had a nice Higurashi feel to it. Very ominous - The music is very well done. I especially liked the music during the opening credits and how Dvorak's "From The New World" is woven into a number of scenes. - I like the character design. It's different from the typical show. - The landscapes are done very well. Can't wait for ep 2! Edit: Just in case some people aren't familiar with Dvorak's Symphony #9: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_No._9_%28Dvo%C5%99%C3%A1k%29 It's possible you've heard bits and pieces of it before. The closing movement was recently used in the "Chuck" finale. Anyway, the anime uses the early part of the 2nd movement. This is important since: Dvořák stated that he regarded the symphony's second movement as a "sketch or study for a later work, either a cantata or opera ... which will be based upon Longfellow's [The Song of] Hiawatha". I'm not sure if the story of Hiawatha will have any bearing on the anime, but keep in mind that it is about the ending of an age. |

Looks very promising - early impressions are that it's the new Kokoro Connect, but probably a bit darker.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide It's the type of thing I really enjoy watching, not really knowing much about the world and watching a story unravel. Especially as the gloomy psychic boy in the present day seemed to suggest they'll be going outside their Salem's Lot world soon |

One of the best first episodes I've seen in a while. I am thoroughly intrigued. I get the feeling that this show has the potential to be one of the best this season. Plus, it has one of the coolest ending themes I've heard in a while. All in all, it was an awesome way to start -- let's hope they ramp up the quality even higher.

I am not a fan of this style of storytelling, It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. For me its a turn off , there is a flaw in this style and its very annoying.
First You have those graphic scenes at the beginning which is the future and then you are thrown back way in the past and then you go forward in a scene with this girl at the Buddhist priest etc etc ? And then the school of telekinetic kids. At the end you hear a voice of an adult woman narrating when there wasn't any at the beginning. As if they are trying to develop one character as fast as they can . But it does make you curious and it is also annoying the heck out of me. Almost all the comment at the viewing area is united in one word, confusing |

Actually, I believe the opening scene was in the past (our contemporary time). The rest of the show is 1000 years from now. Obviously there will be a connection between the powers shown at the start of the show and what the kids are learning.
I'm ok with letting the mystery unravel slowly. I didn't find it confusing at all. |

Episode 2 Another high level visually presented episode. This one had a bit more of the entertainment side as there is a game being played. Idk the exact origins of where the author got the game from but if I was there and had psychic powers, I'd definitely join in the fun. Anyways, cool episode and nice ED song. |

This show is definitely interesting and rather dark. You can definitely get that feel during the second episode. There is a lot of two faced behavior here. such as
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide The adult agreeing outloud that the cheating was an accident, and then having the kid disappear via means of the monster they spoke of on the first episode. You can see the shadow following him around. Also, im pretty sure the graphic scenes were the past, probably the first people to have the ability that all of humanity now seems to have. And how they first used it, before it started to be controlled. |

Anime of the season, tbh. |

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?

Was quite eerie & ominous, the anime style choice really does fit on everyday possible. The musical score fits too with the ED being music to my ears. I want moar of this one as well >:3
