How do Orges bypass that syndrome to keep violence in check?

Really glad I gave this series another chance. I'd like to see more backstory into how our society finally fell into this cycle of control and that children are not classed as humans till the end of their teenage years.
I still find some things hard to grasp, i.e. what exactly are the mole rats, why is it that no-one has had the nerve to stand up to this society or how they've had their memories altered and only now noticing it. |

SAVE THE DALEKS!!

|
If you watched the most recent episode its slightly explained, only group 1 ever notice that their memories have changed because they were given free thought. Everyone else is terrified of the barrier and all that kind of stuff.
As for the molerats, they're just another race I guess |

Death of shame and bonobo love are genetically engineered traits which can be repressed through normal reproductive processes, DNA swapping during fertilization. I am surprised that they don't use fully artificial insemination for all pregnancies to control it better but... |

They really don't go into too many details about the adults until the latest episode. saki apparently had siblings but were all terminated for unexplained reasons until she was the only child that wasn't targeted.

I think Saki's parents talked about limits imposed on the use of electricity in one of the first episodes. There is something else Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide With Tomiko's ability to affect her own genetic code, wouldn't stand to reason that others might be able to do the same? Reinforce the genetically engineer traits without artificial insemination? |

My logic bomb is that sending an impure cat out to kill someone should also cause the death of shame but I suppose it would be temporary while the cat has no such problem. |

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I believe they were 'disposed' of because they had weak control over their powers thus were in danger of falling into the same position as Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Shun |

Though how that resulted in the weird mask I dunno |

Click to show or hide I'm guessing the mask may have some way for him to distance Saki from him but I don't really get it myself and it wasn't too big of a deal in the manga so wasn't really elaborated on. Well even without Shun as an example the basic premise is still there. Rofl at the amount of spoiler tags |

Click to show or hide I just want more answers on the whole shun thing, he was probably the character I was most interested in and they killed him off so quickly. I think that theres more more to things than he's just gone, I think that the person who scared the impure cat off from the pussy was in some ways shun. I dunno, I'll just have to wait it out! |

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Well there are like 11 episodes left so can hope they'll fill in the rest (not counting however many volumes of the manga left). In the manga the reason for his going 'ogre' was during the time they were in the protection of the Robber Fly clan (they never got separated nor had their powers sealed) the Ground Spiders started spreading poison though the caves and in order to escape they needed to drill through the ceiling. Shun broke his 'limiter' in order to finish the drilling before the debris could collapse on them. Also when Saki went to meet with him it wasn't in his home town but in a thicket that was being mutated by his powers and he wasn't wearing the mask as it was absorbed into him. |

So glad this show is back.
Things are really getting serious now. Some interesting theories posted. I'm just going to mull things over for now, but I wonder Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide if Tomiko's sole reason for the experiment was to find a new leader. Perhaps Tomiko is starting to have problems restoring her telomeres or that she can't fully restore them. If she could fully restore them, she'd look young. Instead, she's looking elderly. Since the older Saki is the narrator, I wonder how far in the future she is to be telling this story. |

mipegg wrote: hpulley wrote: mipegg wrote: Yea, but that still doesnt explain why you see no adults acting like that. Is it just a temporary thing to control them whilst they're kids? For reproduction it makes no sense as adults. The entire population of Japan is 50000-60000 people! They kill all the ogres and demons so there aren't many people left. They need to keep having kids until they get goldilocks kids with control, good control. I know but then it doesnt make sense why they suddenly go from not being able to say no to having logical 'I need babies' purely through a few years. Maybe it's due to the psychological manipulation they go through growing up. After all it was said earlier on that they were genetically induced(I think) to behave like the bonobos to have a more carefree and loving community. Possibly, after they reach adulthood, nearly all the mental manipulation stops which is why Saki's parents know all the details of what's going on behind the scenes. What I'm saying is that the kids are being brainwashed, in a way, into the free love thing to promote harmony but once they are adults they end up expressing their natural sexuality. This obviously makes sense as they have a very low population. In the grand scheme of things, if people are the problem, then just brainwash everybody gay and let the population die out. Problem solved. |
