And... @hpulley: Did you get the BD 4 of the series yet?

Unfortunately I've heard they haven't fixed episode 8's animation... :-/

Fixed what? Episode 8 is good, tongues and all! I received my copy last week, watched it, love it and the second soundtrack CD is absolutely awesome. I don't remember any animation problems with 8 just 5.

Episode 8 had very sloppy animation, a lot of episodes of the show have some awkward animation.

Vertical Inc. is going to be licensing Shin Sekai Yori's manga, it will be going on sale early this fall.
No idea if there's any manga fans out there, but hey it's there now.

Yakomaru is my man ... or mole.. or rat... whatever...
I would have come up with the same tactic for most part of the currently known plot. Oh well.. in general I like clever strategist more than brute force soldiers

That kid was really creepy, the plot for this anime has developed so wonderfully. Episode by episode, it just keeps on getting better and better and there are sooo many plot twists and unexpected outcomes. I have so much love for the author of this novel and the people who are making this anime. This should be an all time classic. I'm surprised however that this novel didn't get that much attention internationally, it's just sooo good!

Also, on side note/question, can someone explain to me how the ogre is able to bypass the shame of death?

It's on ep 12. The orges is totally lost their sanity, so don't feel bad when killing their own kind. They might also have the pleasure of killing.

The thing with orges is that they don't grow up with the shame of death being placed into them. It's a subconscious act of the user's mind which was indoctrinated into all villagers. Thus orges are not born in the village to be indoctrinated. What makes it scarier is that they have no concept of right or wrong, they do not have limits because they have never been made to experience fear the same as the villagers.

So it makes you wonder how they can actually fight back let alone survive. Really looking forward to the last few eps.

This episode had some pretty great animation early on. I miss that lovely animation. Most of the episode is at least well shot, with nice angles and lighting. Really, everything about this episode was just lovely to watch, despite that ~quality~ still hangin' around.

Sadly it is selling under 600 copies per volume including my copy of each one so far. This is so far from break even that it makes me sad but I have shown my appreciation anyways, bought these novels and another six by the same author that I haven't read yet but he has his royalties already. Least I can do...

So far I think episode ten is still my favorite but I hope the last few surpass it. Ten is the last one I have on Bluray for a few weeks (11-13 later this month) so I may still change my mind...
