There was a great story here. Many a time during the series, I was on the edge of my seat, especially in the second half. I just feel like it could have been more... atmospheric. They did a good job with the music on the whole, but I don't think the art style was right for the show, and sometimes the animation was sloppy enough to be really off-putting. Wonderful final episode, though. 7 or 8 out of 10.

I really don't get why people are so head over heels in love with this anime.

It's better than Japan is giving it credit for but a masterpiece it is not.

I think part of the problem stems with the Japanese anime format being either 12 episodes or 24/25 episodes. Whilst I thought the acting was always top drawer, and pretty much carried the whole show, I always felt the material had been stretched pretty thinly, and genuinely could have done with some aggressive editing to get the pacing right. Since they couldn't cannibalise it down to 12 episodes, they went with 25, when really it should have been in the 16-18 show territory.

I just thought that the idea for this anime was unique and the art was perfect, I mean there are always some areas that people can fix but overall I enjoyed it

I pretty much agree with your thread here.

I marathoned the last 4 episodes just now. ALL OF MY FEELS

Jumped up a few places in my ranking with the ending, that's a definite 10/10 for me, despite its various flaws.

The ending was a lot better than I expected, it didn't even feel very rushed for having so much cut out. Everything just happens, and it works because Shin Sekai Yori is just so interesting. Everything about it is so surreal and interesting to me, it's been a pleasure to watch despite it's ups and downs.
I don't really have much special to say, people will probably put my thoughts into words better than I could, but I can't wait for Sentai to release it. Honestly, this is a show I'll be glad to watch again in the future, hopefully with a better understanding of everything that happened.
It's not perfect, but it's certainly one of the better series I've seen. Glad I stuck with it.

My interest waned in the middle episodes, but I have to say that this last episode was a pretty good ending.

everything and anything can be justified with a good ending and i have to say this was a good last episode

ie plot holes and other blemishes do not matter

Let me write something a little better. I was caught up in the moment before.

This show had the best realized, most fleshed out and yet most mysterious atmosphere of any show this season. I think that was the best thing about it. The characters and the plot's handling of them might have left something to be desired, but having them explore the various mysteries of that world was what the show was all about, and it executed that wonderfully. I also really liked the art style of the show, which accented all of what I just mentioned. And the music was always a plus, especially those endings.

There are a few flaws with the show, like how their first outing with the Monster Rats seems rather long winded, or the glaring off-model every now and then. But the show was good enough to where I didn't care. Basically what AnimeKami said. Anyways, freakin awesome anime! I'm glad people recommended it to me, because I almost didn't watch it. 10/10

What a satisfying ending to a very underrated anime. The only thing that was left unanswered is the mystery surrounding Maria and Mamoru's fate. It is implied that they died at the hands of the queerats.

Who doesn't like a classic panned out ending thats a little predictable but seems to be able to satisfy the desires of viewers. As it has been pointed out, the slight wrinkle here and there is just smoothed out with a clean ending but unanswered questions are still left not to smother the audience to much in confortability. I'm not sure if this was purposeful or not but GOD that was Brilliant!

That is probably the first time after finishing an series that I have NOT suffered from Post-Anime Depression.
