Good thinking. that's how the Government feels too.
Government workers tend to know the loop holes and they abuse it.
and they think "it's not my problem there's a loop hole"

China just wants a excuse to fight Taiwan and Japan. If they do go to war you can expect the US to send troops, and with the UN having 60% of it's forces from United States you can be assured that UN will also step in. which will cause WW3. since China has a new missile that can destroy the US battle ships that's around Chinese sea (once the ship detect the missile it's already too late); I would say alot of blood will be shed the first week.

Could people please lay off the religious debate? It is off topic here.

These islands have been in dispute since before the People's Republic of China existed, and they probably will continue to be in dispute for a while, because China isn't going to back down but they aren't stupid enough to start a war over them either. China knows that they'd stand to lose from war -- they don't want their trade cut off any more than we want to lose their trade.

hmm. Do you know what "people's republic of China " is?

actually China is building their army to prepare for war with US. and they show the US that their not afried by hacking into the US database multiple times a day

China actually has several anti-ship missiles. Some are subsonic, others supersonic. And MOST can be engaged and destroyed by the Phalanx CIWS (Close-in Weapons system). I believe the missile you are refering to is the DF-21 ASBM, a long range balistic missile that can reach hypersonic speeds. China however is estimated to only have about 80, plus or minus. The missile at the such speeds would be nigh impossible for the CWIS system to track and engage...For a single vessel. Given that US fleet's travel in large battlegroups and brimming with EW (Eletronic warfare) and ESM(Electronic Support Measures) systems, the rate of success would more then likely be much lower. In addition, the missiles (Like most of China's tech), really has not been field tested against an actual enemy. So not even sure if all the missiles will work as intended.

Yes, ships would be hit, lives lost. On the same token, the US ALSO has long range anti-ship missiles it would deploy to engage Chinese vessels to keep it's battlegroups out of harm's way.

And no, WW3 would not start.

Edit: I guess I should add those missiles COULD be armed with nuclear warheads, but I'm going out on a limb and state even China's not that crazy.

China would get it's rear end handed to them in a war. If china tried to nuke, they would be destroyed, and not by retaliating nukes. There is still a missile shield in place from the soviet era, and the russians probably still don't like the chinese much. If they want to start a fight with us, it may give russia a reason to settle some old scores.

Like it or not, the US has spent trillions of dollars equipping and training our troops for the past 10 years straight. Having a constant 200k+ troop presence in the mid east also means that we have a couple million troops between active duty and on reserve, not counting national guards.

@camontour - What you're looking for is the Principal Anti-Air Missile System (PAAMS) which is available on the Type 45 Destroyers, the system is able to track an object the size of a cricket ball (or baseball, your choice) travelling at 3 times the speed of sound, in fact the Type 45 Destroyers are so powerful the US Navy asked the Royal Navy to turn off the PAAMS system during training exercises because the Americans couldn't do anything.

You'd need to hook up the Phalanx to the PAAMS to track missiles going 2,200mph, though ideally you'll use Aster 15 or 30 at long range to take the missiles out before they get close enough for the Phalanx to fire (Phalanx is close range only so would be useless in protecting targets from attack rather than itself). Simply put, if Enemy Ship A fires at Friendly Target One, Friendly Ship A would need to be between ESA and FTO to block the missile with Phalanx, using Aster's the ship would just need to be in range to intercept.

It's all academic though, the next war will be in Iran over WMD - we in the west seem to have a thing against countries with Ira in their name and them having WMD, so let's all pray that Iran doesn't get attacked by the US/Israel - although they probably would object to Christians praying for them......

China is trying to claim a lot of territories that is out of their territorial range... i guess they are scared of their declining resources and wants to get more resources on different neighbor countries for them to secure profit for the future... China is becoming greedy

After opening this thread today i felt kinda sad with the overall response....

Why? because The discussion are really misleading from the main topic. that is PEACE.
I think this kinda of attitude is what wage the war in the first place.

Sad everyone hates atheists. We live in a sad world.

It's more sadder to think that we live in the world that no one care about other people.

With respect, i don't think people hate you because your are an atheists. It is because they way you express your opinion over this matters.
I'ts like you don't care.

If you don't pray (because you're atheist), HOPING that the conflict can be resolved peacefully between them is more than enough contribution.

But i do believe, we can have a different opinion.
But that doesn't mean we can insult or attack someone personality or belief.

I can critics your comment/post. but that doesn't mean i can curse you, can calling you names or anything.
That just not right.

The truth is, to have peace. we must have TOLERANCE.
that's all.

i think is appropriate for me use the anime as an issue here, why?
Crunchyroll website fall into anime niche right? so why not
i use anime to spark the conversation here? it's kinda logic rite?

Thanks to all people who praying for world peace.

Expect there would be no British vessels in the East China Sea. -_-. And if there was, it would be in a small support role, not on the scale of a USN Battlegroup.

Second, the DF-21 does not attack via waterline, but via topdown IIRC. Being a balistic missile, and hypersonic (ie, Mach 5+), most modern point defense systems would have only seconds to track, fire, adjust, and fire again. And likely targets would of course be carriers at the heart of a battlegroup. So, neither PAAMS, or CWIS with the SeaRAM upgrade would be effective against those missiles.

Also PAAMS itself is not an EW suite. While it works primarly in conjuction with EW, it would be the same if the USN put up EA-18 Growlers or had EC-135's providing EW coverage. Eletronic Warfare even then would be so effectice against something moving so fast, and unless we have the ELINT stats of the missile (which we may or may not), you would not be able to actually jam it's guidance system. And if you use EW over a large RF range, you risk blocking your own systems.

Yeah, training for unconvential land combat in Afganistan and Iraq. Our overall strategic posture for the last 10+ years has been landwars against poorly equiped men hiding in plain sight. We are bit rusty at conventional warfare. Still strong, just rusty.

@gaara Yet it's better then sitting around and ridiculing others. If he wants to pray for world peace, and attempt to get others to try to find the good in other people, more power to him.

Sorry but your stupid if you pray for world peace serously you think one day BAM everything is peaceful no war no thing bad ever happens? everyone will get along? Its just some fantasy that will never happen.

Did i ever mention in my post that the world peace will come easily? haha
at least i TRY rather than sit and do nothing?

maybe you should go to hiroshima and nagasaki or other place to trully know what war can effect to people.
people die, get sick and suffered.

and you're here babbling that who care? You should live on the moon buddy. where you're alone and
no one will bother you or care about you.

I raise these issue for obvious reason, because i had friends and family in China and also in Japan.

Calling me stupid that shows you care about my opinion.
at least that shows that u still have feeling and you do care. LOL Thanks.
