I'm yet to find any significance other then proof of what you've done. But perhaps there is more to it, I'm not sure.

its a way of cr to say thank you, because each of those things that your earn actually help the site out. but so you don't get overloaded with em you only get one when you hit the achievement. there used to be cooler acheivements that actually meant something but thats gone now.
