Strawberry panic is very beautiful and in the right environments.. like the fact about the three schooland the uniforms.
Maria sama ga miteru is also very good..but you cant really call it yuri.. but is has many yuri elements thoug.

Lol I've never heard of/seen any guy reading Yaoi. I haven't seen any guy reading Yuri either, but as a guy, I'm going to assume that more guys read Yuri than Yaoi. Just 'cause we're like that.

no im positive if ur straight and u know its yaoi a guy would turn it away...girls mightn ot turn yuri away... but im not a girl so im not giving a say to it... just yaoi even if it looks liek a good series u shouldn't watch it if ur a guy unless ur gay...

not to be offensive but that seems really sexist and homophobic. not all guys or girls turn away from anime or manga just because it has same gender relationships as the reader. some guys do watch yaoi but that doesn't make them gay, the same with girls and yuri.

girls r diffrent... since they r feminen(this so doesn't look spelled right>.<)... (so im not givign a say on it) but im a guy so i can openly have my opionion on what is gay and what is not...what u just said is the same thing as saying if ur okay about watching incest and don't feel quilty from it then its okay because u r in no way related to liking a sibling like that... knowing and watching yaoi and ur a guy then u r more towards being gay then not... nots my statement thats my opinion u don't need to listen to it if u don't want to but thats how i see it... but its no way near a sexiest or homophobic attitude... besides im pretty sure sexiest has nothing to do with gay or not topics...and i didn't state that i don't watch it or like it or not i just leaned towards it so im no where near a sense of being homophobic...

actually i think that the fact that yaoi includes guys just makes it popular we do live in a suprisingly sexist world after all and its probably the fact that there is more of it but personally i love yuri but theres too little of it *cries very hard* personally i like most of the yuri manga but i just cant accept kashimashi its a guy in a girls body so i still think of him as a guy but still why arent there any yuri stuff i read like as much yuri stuff as i can and i have only seen like 10 stories including oneshots but like i said its a very sexist world by the way im a straight girl

My favorite yuri series is probably Noir.

As a series, I think the plot is incredibly engaging, mysterious and poetic. The characters are amazing too, they have uniqueness and depth, and you can really see how each of their personal motivations drive their individual actions. Then, on the romantic level, Mireille and Kirika have this beautifully dark and complex relationship, but even through everything it's so clear how much they need each other. And of course poor Chloe! Chloe was my favorite character so I really hurt for her and her doomed love for Kirika =(

I think it's a really beautiful series.

Oh! And I have to mention Shoujo Kakumei Utena too, 'cause it takes a close second. I really like overly-complicated, mysterious storylines, if you can't tell =D That said...

I've heard a lot of good things about Strawberry Panic, but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I'd like to hear more of what you guys think of it (without spoilers, naturally =) ).

Strawberry Panic is the only one I have really watched, so I could say that is one of my favorite YURI animes; but in terms of my favorite animes in general, it hits rock bottom on my list.

Umm... where have you been? Yuri's in anime a lot more than yaoi. It's just it's rare that the focus of the anime is on yuri. Usually when Yaoi is in anime, it is the focus, though. That's why people get this mindset for some reason.

I, myself, as a straight girl, actually prefer yuri because it's got more potential for comedy, as we have seen in various mediums (bleach, azumanga diaoh, etc...). The focus may rarely be yuri, but it's pretty much everywhere. However, with yaoi, it actually bores me. Sure, the boys are kinda hot, but that's all it's got going.

To me, if the anime fails to make me laugh or captivate me in its storyline, it fails, and I lose interest. I have never seen a story with yoai in it that held my interest for more than two episodes.

So basically, Yuri is commonplace, so we notice it less. Yaoi is not, but is often used as focus, so we notice it more.

As odd as it is for me to say I'd prefer two gay girls over two gay guys, it's mainly because I personally prefer the comic relief that the situations provide, where as Yaoi only provides the same old boring repetitive seme and uke stuff. Honestly, it gets kinda boring.

It may just be a me thing though. I'd prefer to laugh at something than to drool over something any day.
