Holy shit, someone remebers Yaiba! Loved that show when I was a kid!

For forgotten or unknown series, I can name the original Brave Reideen series (not the 2010 one). It had some strange mystic/atlantean elements.

And I should mention" Kimba the white lion" but i only saw one complete chapter, didn't like it much.

my rarest would have to be Rave Master.

i know this doesn't sound rare to you guys, but most people i know who like anime don't have a clue about Rave Master. i tell them it was made by Hiro Mashima and then they recognize it as, "oh, that's the guy who made Fairy Tail, so then yeah, it probably is good!" i just don't get it. Rave Master came out way before Fairy Tail, and i seem to be the only one who knows that. it's like Fairy Tail is Rave Master's older brother, but it's the other way around for me, and it always will be.

I have watched a lot of really obscure stuff, most of which I no longer remember the name of, but one tittle that comes to mind that deserves way more attention than it ever received is Living for the Day After Tomorrow. I just happened to pick it up during the last Christmas sale on Right Stuf! and was quite surprised with how well done it was. Sad to see it never attracted many people, though.

Those are the only ones I can think of right now im sure there are a lot more lol

I'm not certain that a title that is currently available via legal means (especially those available via free streaming) should be considered rare. The majority of the titles you mentioned fall under that list.

I also see a few on your list that have been mentioned a number of times in the Crunchyroll forums, especially My Bride is a Mermaid (Seto no Hanayome). I've seen a number of the others pop up when people are talking about favorite anime and/or underrated anime.

Personally, out of your list, the only ones I have not seen are Jing King of Bandits, Miracle Train, Princess Princess, Pretear, and Kiba, and with the possible exception of Princes Princess, which I don't recall their being a legal streaming source for, odds are I'll get around to them.

Well, technically, I haven't seen all of Babel II since I just started it late last month. and most recently watched episode 8.

Now and Then, Here and There

An absolute CLASSIC of anime that is not well known outside of Japan sadly. An anime about the terrible emotional and psychological cost of war and how it affects children. It also talks about things like rape, child-soldiers, torture, war-crimes...etc. It's a really deep show and it's not for everyone.

The plot is basically this: In order to save a young girl, the main character is transported from modern Japan into a world torn by war in every possible way, and suffering from a severe lack of water.

This is a series for anyone wanting a deep, thought-provoking, tragic and gripping show. It's only 13 episodes, but has a truly sad ending.

This made me go look for it and I watched it last night..stayed up till about 3:30am watching the entire 13 episodes!

Your review didn't let me down at all!

I have suggested this to a couple friends, it should be watched more!

So glad you liked this amazing anime! Spread the love!

Dominion Tank Police, of which this exact image is forever burned in my mind :

Gee, I have some recollection of the babes but somehow this image slipped by my memory cells...

I'm not esoteric in my anime watching but one that I liked but haven't seen mentioned much is The Heroic Legend of Arslan, probably more a function of its age than its rarity. Or I probably just don't read the forums enough.

I've owned this series since it was released here in the US in 2002. I need to rewatch it. I remember this series bothered the hell out of me.

Niea Under 7.

It's from the same creator who made Serial Experiments Lain and Haibane Renmei. The story behind it, if I remember correctly, was that he needed to make something lighthearted and fun after doing Lain and Haibane.

As soon as I heard the first few words, I thought, "I think I've seen this", and indeed I had (back at the end of February 2010).

I miss the days when I could actually get anime DVDs like this from Netflix.
