If I was a male, I don't think I'd feel comfortable spending 2,000 yen (which is $20 over here I think?) just to rest my head on a stranger's lap. Oh well, it's their choice after all. I personally find it a waste of money and time, and a little degrading.

What's sad is 3500/hr pay for the girls...3000 for 3 minutes though....
Wow

Firstly, if that is a business which it is i doubt it can pass Singapore's business permits to operate. due to it's nature.
It is funny and sounds like fun if your a male but it is some what downgrading for the content fore tails that it is a quasi-motel bar of some sorts. Well, it is Japan and enough said they are in a whole new level there. I just thank them for their Anime, Martial Arts, the Katana and of course brilliant electronics the rest i can live without it for it is only in Japan that stays in Japan and conservative eventually Japan is not the entire complete country you can live in and be a peace hahaha :D

Yes, people may find it strange, disturbing and so on but hey at least it's better than strip joints, places where women sell their bodies (sexually) to strangers.
I think this, as opposed to things like Maid Cafes/Strip Clubs, seems to respect females and put them in a positive light that isn't sexual.
They're seen to offer comfort and warmth as opposed to acting moe to please all age groups of perverted men (Maid Cafes) or sexually (many businesses).
Many women go into those kinds of businesses because they are desperate for money but they most probably face a lot of psychological trauma if they aren't willing to do the things that are in the job description. Staring at a stranger for a minute doesn't seem as terrible as having to do something sexually for the first time with a stranger who could be ugly and old.
At least that's just my take on it, each to their own!

Thanks, your post made me realize the truth in this. There is so much logic in it I want to facepalm over myself now. After reading it, it really doesn't seem bad compared to many other things.

I thought the body pillow and nyotaimori practices were disturbing. This really ups it. Then again, lots of anime-related merchandise can get sexual and don't even get me started on doujinshi. I think one of the most disturbing non-sexual things of Japan outside of anime/manga plots is Kochi City having legal dog fighting with the Japanese Mastiff/Tosa Inu breed where they get 2 dogs in a ring and do the doggy version of sumo.

Strip clubs aren't so bad, well they are, but they aren't. It's complicated.

Anyways you are correct. This "Cuddle Cafe" thing looks like a job you could brag about at your kids career day compared to some of the other occupations that a women in need of some quick cash might go into.

Being the resident "sleazeball" of the CR forums, I will have to agree.

Most strip clubs have cameras and security guys, bouncers all over to protect the dancers. You cross the line once you're like to get a stern warning, a second time and you'll be grabbed and thrown out with no reservations. There are strict rules in place.

The reality of it is that it is a profitable industry. Guys like looking at women's bodies and some women need money (college, single mom, want to be financially independent, make a lot of money in a short amount of time, etc.). It's very practical - and unlike prostitution there's little legal risk or health risk.

The men's money really go a long way to help these women provide food on their tables, provide a roof, pay the rent, buy the stuff they want, etc. The stereotype that strippers use the money to buy booze or alcohol, is just that. You think a strip club owner would allow a boozed up dancer, with needle marks on her body, go up stage and lose him customers? Hell no, it's a pretty "well-regulated" profession. A lot of the dancers aren't looking to do it for the rest of their life either, just money on the side to get them through a period of time.

Whether you're morally for or against it, is really up to you. But as a profession, it's really not that bad, especially if you're comfortable with your body, as well as nudity.

DID YOU JUST SAY WHAT I SAID BUT SMARTER?!

Not to go to off topic, but outside of the sleaziest clubs most American (and I assume European) strip clubs have tons of rules against girls getting overly friendly with customers. One because in many places, and pretty much every strip club, prostitution is illegal and if a club is doing it they can be shut down. Two it's a major health risk to have girls sexing up clients.

Haha, nah, just went into detail (since I have some experience with strip clubs).

And yeah, all the legit ones who are big and make a lot of money have a ton of rules. And it's very well-regulated. As you've said, most strip clubs will not risk being shut-down for the little extra income they get from "pimping out" girls. They make a ton of money already through cover fees, drinks, the dancers, etc. Outside the club, the girls might do it themselves to get extra money, but most club owners aren't going to let that shit slide in their establishment and bring down the wrath of the inspectors.

You were a bouncer right.

Where I live even the smaller ones crack down hard on girls doing a little extra for customers. Nobody wants to be the next Crazy Horse.

$45 an hour to let some guy sleep in my lap with no sexual contact? Where do I sign up?

You probably lose around half (I'm guessing?) of that amount to the agency you're working for, since they're providing all the advertisement, facilities, etc. but still $20-$25 an hour is no small thing.

I'm guessing they just need to hire a bunch of attractive college girls and the business is set. The hotter you are, the more patrons you get and the more they can charge for your rates.
