All I can think of after that is "what the hell happened to the second half of this anime?"

I liked it enough to still watch it, but I lost all sense of "omg epic I want to see what happens next!" after episode 12 :P

Guess I'm one of the few who didn't mind the change after episode 12. Lol

Don't worry, you weren't the only one not bothered by it.

definitely not. I thought it was a great show, start to finish.

A very anti-climactic final battle, which did somewhat drag down the episode, but it still doesn't negate the great ending. It wraps things up so well with no loose ends. We know what happens to the Kusaribe, and Yoshino and Mahiro are both finally able to come to terms with Aika and her death and move on, and Hakaze and Yoshino finally make up. An overall pretty good finale.

Around episode 8 I think it was the show slowed down a bit, then it picked up a ton and was very interesting. Then it slowed down again, but then picked up a ton again.

TBH it was a great show. It had high intensity points then a breather then all of the sudden its high intensity again then another breather and then finishes off with high intensity with a solid ending.

I feel like the second half really went astray, stylistically. It was a let down for me because I was so juiced on the first 12 episodes.

The best part of the series as a whole; Mahiro and Yoshino. They're great characters.

To be honest I thought that the first half of the show was much better in its execution. The pacing was at a fairly good speed where nothing really felt like it was dragging on but not so fast that you were wondering what just happened. Even when they spent a good two episodes in one spot just throwing theories at each other I found that to actually be quite interesting. While I did enjoy the ending overall I would have to say between the mid season episode and the final episode the mid season one had me feeling more satisfied.

Hey guys I reviewed the whole series. Would be great if you guys could check out and give me some feedback! I felt that it went a bit pear shaped. But here it is:

The ending was by far better than the usual rushed unlogic ending we often see these days.
Even if the most important parts of the story wrap up, there are still many things which not. I feel kind of unsatisfied.

1)
As for Aika's death I'am following Mahiros argument quite well - she just acted out her life to one others script without own consent or determination. Yes, she was willing to die, you might call this determination, but in my eyes it was just running away and plug herself nice into events she got leaked by Hakaze (oh boy, Hakaze, do you not understand the basic rules of time travelling!?)

2)
We have the two trees. They kind of resemble to the "Matrix" setup. The tree-system was meant to fail and included its substantial error, the power of exodus and its neo. Regardless of Fräulein Yamamotos outfit, she is not Mr. Smith . But still, we did not get to know who invented and placed this system onto earth. Nor we have any solid theory of their meaning or what should be archived. I would not expect such a high developed system to be operating or even be destroyed without calling home to report.

3)
I'am not very keen to see Aika in the role of Prospero giving her blessings to Yoshino and Mahiro to continue to live a "happy life". She has not the right to wish for that and also she is not fit to act as Prospero as she had given her own fate out of her hands so easily!

Our revels now are ended.
These our actors.
As I fortold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air,
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve;
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

I liked it as well, don't worry. I enjoyed the change of pace just before the ending.

I think the story would have taken a much better turn if Yoshino had turned out to be the mage of exodus, even so i really enjoyed it.

I rather enjoyed the series, even though we were cheated in the last few seconds.

Overall, Aika was the best character of the series, and if there would be an OVA, I'd want it to be about her early years.
