AsuraCryin wrote: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I'm not sure whose side I am suppose to sympathize with; I agreed with Makishima's ideology but not his methods. . . however, there are times where violence becomes a necessity in order to bring forth the revelation of "truth" to the people or change. I realized that there is something eerily wrong with the people of Psycho-Pass.* To quote Ben Franklin, they who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Not that I entirely agree with Ben Franklin but Makishima is right that the citizens of the Psycho-Pass world have, in some ways, gave up their rights for a sense of security. I don't think they don't deserve liberty or safety but that they need to see what their world really is. Seeing the Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide central cast make remarks about their own society and the people within it was very refreshing. I like to see that there are "humane" characters in this messed up world unlike the "sheep" that roam the city. It's an interesting case to see people who protect their society despite how flawed they may think it is. *Maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. The Bystander Effectappears to be quite common in everyday life I said something like this in another forum regarding this show. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Makishima's goal, although through rather cruel methods, is to ultimately liberate this society from Sibyl. I definitely want to see how it turns out. |

Episode 14 was indeed gruesome and disturbing .However ,We are now seeing what Makishima's motive is .
But you know that part when Kogami and Matsuoka pointed their dominator and it read 282 , I just started cracking up , I cant believe I was laughing at a scene in this episode.Urobuchi sensei actually was able to write some humor in it. lol just reminds me of some of my favorite lines in Law and Order from my favorite detectives This anime just amaze me a lot no matter how dark it is. . This is one anime I can highly recommend to my friends who doesnt watch anime. If and when this anime gets licensed for distribution, (I dont think Funimation has made the move yet) .. I sure hope the team that did Ghost in the Shell does the ADR for this title. thats my only wish |

as the anime progresses, makishima is starting to come out as the good guy even though his ways are too sadistic and brutal.
his ideals are really on point but man, the dead bodies. -__- |

It has a William Gibson vibe I really dig. Also, it's one of the few mature Sci-Fi anime's being produced right now... Excellent IMO... I'm about to watch episode 14 right now in fact. |

His methods are cruel but that's how strongly he wants to get his point across.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide In their society, what he's doing is a lot worse than what it would be considered in ours. Their society is ruled by a computer and they have been desensitized/conditioned to not fear violence since it doesn't happen thanks to hue scanners and whatnot. The humans there have lost the survival instinct, I daresay. The woman being murdered didn't call for help, didn't scream, held her hands up, but didn't even fight to defend herself. When the man brandished a hammer from his coat, she barely reacted. I always thought this anime would bring Sibyl into question, but I never (until recently) thought it would be done through Makishima. My guess is he will die for his cause by the end and Sibyl will be changed or gotten rid of so humans can live for themselves again. |

I love outside the box anime like this... I want more anime that challenges my perceptions of society. |

Wow, You weren't kidding. They really upped the ante on the violence. I think this is the best series of the season by far. Now I have to wait another week for the next episode. Oh cruel world.... |

That was brutal but you know what... Makishima is right on both counts. His methods are awful but Sybil has completely ruined the society it was meant to protect. No one knows what to do when someone is being beaten to death... seriously wrong!

Besides all the great comments above I would like to touch the forensic and detective side of things.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide First those masks just threw off the Sybil System. It just takes the Psycho Pass of the closest person in so many feet.but the inspectors and enforcers had a hunch and used to their advantage.Theres that human thing called intuition. Then I was just awed by the forensic bots. They didnt leave nothing to chance.I just liked how they collected the evidence[The new music and animation seem to be stepped up too./spoiler] |

I think it's a good deal! Soundtracks alone often cost ¥3300! Having it bundled with the BD as a bonus I love... When I'm importing the series..it does suck if you weren't buying the videos... They want to make you buy the whole series that way.
Sukitte ii na yo soundtrack comes on two separate music and drama discs for ¥2000 each but I bought them. Tonari no Kaibutsu kun included it as a bonus with BD 3 so I didn't have to buy it. BTOOOM, Kokoro Connect, Shinsekai Yori, Mouretsu Space Pirates etc. include it. Tari Tari, Girls Und Panzer, etc. separate. Imports are expensive for sure. People complain about paying $50 for a series when I regularly pay that much or more for one disc!!! |
