Kid who posted this got banned. That's what he gets for not putting EQ on there.
The big daddy of them all.
No game was ever NEARLY as massive as it was. WoW and most of the others are just EQ skeletons with different skin.
Which is a good thing, or else they wouldn't be as popular as they are today.
Thank you EQ for making all these new MMOs possible.
Too bad most of the people voting never got a chance to play the original.

Out of the listed, PSO.
My fav. mmo would be Mabinogi. Though it's not a franchise.

Ultima Online. EQ was, and will always be just another UO clone.

Final Fantasy 7 was my first RPG, Then on to Arterial Iris, Then Final Fantasy 8, Then my first and favorite MMORPG... Phantasy Star Online. It was a pioneer of its kind back in 2000. Mabinogi was great for a while, and met many friends there, if it wasn't for the theme and tedious gameplay, I would say it would be my favorite. I've tried WoW and Guild Wars, but you would have to like that style and theme of gameplay, which wasn't my cup of tea. PSO has simple controls, yet is challenging gameplay. Now that PSO2 is in JPN, coming West here in a month or so, I will definitely invest more countless hours in it, and will tell all my friends about it going F2P. www.pso2.com
