Ya same, I wonder how this will relate to last year's Steins;Gate. This episode wasn't too impressive imo but I remember S;G's first initial episodes weren't either imo but turned out to be one of my favorites from 2011.

The stories from this setting always seem to come out of left field as far as how good they are. They start off as either meh, or wtf and then end up being really fantastic.

First ep 4/5, liked it.
It was funny. Not much plot development, but it's just the first ep, BUT the ending made it really interesting, "Whoes eyes are those?". That's from Chaos;Head, which is why it's really interesting. |

Wasn't a huge fan of this first episode. The main character's a bit of a douche and the genki girl got on my nerves a bit. The shoutouts at the beginning and end of the episode to Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head, respectively makes me feel like this might try to tie the two together in some way. The tone is extremely light compared to C;H and S;G so far, though, for better or for worse. We have 21 more episodes with this, though, so we'll see how it turns out.

I quite enjoyed the first time episode and look forward to more. I enjoyed the genki girl main character.

The first of these series I watched was Steins;Gate, and only found out later the connection with Chaos;Head. So I didn't notice anything when I watched S;G at CR... Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Now that the discs of S;G are coming out and I'm rewatching it, I did pick up a couple of definite references to C;H... nothing too Earth-shattering. In the first few episodes, Okarin and Daru do mention "Knight-hart" in a conversation and cosplay fan Mayuri does bring up the meta-anime Blood Tunes a little later... I've only rewatched the first half so far, so there might be more... ^_^;; I enjoyed the first episode, as I've watched enough anime to know not to necessarily be blown away right at the start... many awesome shows take a few eps to really get moving, and some shows that have amazing first eps end up disappointing. We'll have to wait and see... ^_^ - Stevie |

@TheAncientOne:
How come FUNImation can sub the OPs and EDs, and CR not? ----------------- Might this be a refrence to S;G? Steins;Gate Makise, Mayuri, Mad Scientist(Okabe). |

Given that the same appears hold true for simulcasts on The Anime Network and by Viz, I can only speculate that it may have to do with only needing to worry about rights for the United States and Canada. That no doubt makes negotiating for lyrics rights much simpler. |

I thought the first episode was enjoyable. They obviously put a light-hearted spin on the show, which is probably deceptive given the show's origins.
First impressions: - The opening talked about saving the world, so let's see where that leads us - The name of the robot is a great play on words in two ways: It sounds like Gun Barrel in English, and it sounds like Ganbaru (to stand firm) in Japanese. You are probably more familiar with Japanese shouting "ganbatte!" in support of people at events. - Working in the empty airfield reminded me strongly of "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" - The robot?/alien? at the end is a hint that things will start to get more serious; she'll also be instrumental in helping our MCs - I enjoyed the OP and ED |

Eh... I would say not to put too much stock in polls and stuff, especially if they come from Japan. 90% of the time what they think is awesome is utter crap in our polls, and vice versa.

That no doubt makes negotiating for lyrics rights much simpler. Or maybe they just dont have to time to translate the lyrics? CR does seem to be a speed-subbing site. -- Just finished watching ep1. The OP and End were great. The beginning of the story reminded me of Tari Tari, or Chihayafuru, complete with the sour-faced old biddy. I love Aki, shes spazzy and geeky, and really cute. Totally my type. The MC reminds me of Oreki from Hyouka, like he doesnt want to do anything that expends energy. The girl at the end made me think of Urd from Ah My Goddess. |

The voters are mostly people outside Japan. And the good sis MAL is rarely wrong with their ratings. |
