Third episode was fun. Show is good but still not as great as preseason expectations. Standard keep the club going not enough members theme and some romance are not super strong long term plots.

I seriously love this show. I can't wait until the rest of the members (from the OP) finally join them. :3

so their sickness is now properly describe, Aki's illness speed up the time, Kai's illness slows down the time (and this what make him good at fighting games)

This is really good. I'm in love with Kai already. Oreki's replacement. |

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?

The mysterious illness thing is never one of my favorite plot choices in the first place, but in a show that is a "science adventure" series, it needs to take the science seriously. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I realize that Steins;Gate never explained why Okabe was able to remember the changes to the time line, or how they got the phone-microwave (Real name TBA) to work in the first place, or a ton of other things, but they took the science end seriously at least. I just re-watched the first few episodes on my BluRay, and I must say that, knowing what I know about the end, there are all kinds of things that I totally missed or glossed over watching it the first time that are explained by the later time travel aspects of the story. It is really well done, and if you haven't re-watched it, you should do so! There is a treasure trove of meaningful moments waiting to make you go "OH! WT... Why didn't I.... WOW!" Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide If they tie these time-related illnesses into Steins;Gate and the events that transpired back then, it will be awesome! But it probably isn't the case, since whatever happened to cause them happened 7 years ago, and the show takes place about 9 years after Steins;Gate. (The character of Nae, who is in both, was 11 in Steins;Gate and is 20 now.)[/spoiiler] [EDIT: Spoiler block added to satisfy complaints] |

So wanted to to love this show but it is such a cliche fest already, school club going to be shut down if it doesn't get more (reluctant) members, the mysterious tsundere transfer student, blah. At this point I could drop it and wouldn't care as they are still setting up and there is no long term vision aside from getting the robot to work. Relunctant Kill Ballad player will eventually agree to control it, secret robot builder student will help to make it work, Kill Ballad programmer tsundere girl will write its programming, yatta! Were my expectations too high? Again I should probably drop it so I can stop bothering every one who is enjoying it...

Well, to each his own. I think that might be holding this show to too high a standard. As much as I may dislike "red matter" from Star Trek, it served its purpose as a plot device. And really, if you look too closely at any show you'll find plenty of nits to pick. In the end, everyone has their own level of tolerance for certain things in a show. It's only after those "things" disrupt your suspension of disbelieve that you start having problems with a show. That hasn't happened with me yet for Robotics;Notes, but I can tell other people are having problems. I agree there are plenty of clichés in this show, but I'm willing to wait to see how the story plays out before I'm too critical. If it only was a matter of clichés then there would be a huge chunk of anime I'd never watch again. |

(The character of Nae, who is in both, was 11 in Steins;Gate and is 20 now.) I'm spoiler-alerting your quote even though the cat might already be out of the bag after your original post... I just found it rather amazing that you decided to spoiler-alert your opinions about rewatching Steins;Gate and yet didn't spoiler-protect something that totally hasn't been brought up in the Robotics;Notes anime yet... ^_^;;; If you knew that already, I can only assume you've played the Robotics;Notes game... so I would also assume you'd already know whether or not the illness that Kai/Akiho suffer from is tied to Steins;Gate... ^_^;; It may not seem like a major plot point to you, but that's not for you to decide... sorry if I seem mean, because I actually agree with everything you said here (and thankfully I already spoiled what you brought up for myself earlier)... - Stevie |

Even though things seem pretty cliche right now, I feel like they've hinted at enough "other stuff" going on to whet my appetite for more. Since you did ask the question, I do feel like you might have set your expectations too high... I'm not really sure exactly what you were expecting at this point in the story. Not to mention the differing opinions of people regarding the already completed shows in this series... while opinions of Steins;Gate seem overwhelmingly positive, I have noticed there's quite a few Steins;Gate fans who actually didn't like Chaos;Head. So it seems like a definite possibility that just being a Steins;Gate fan will not automatically make you like everything this creative team has done... But for me, I usually have to *really* dislike something in order to drop it once I start watching it for free online... a show just being generic/cliche typically isn't enough to scare me off. I can think of a number of anime that rank among my most favorite and could be considered the most unique shows which I would have judged as just cliche if I cut the show off at Episode 4. As I said earlier in this thread, it is your decision... so feel free to ignore everything I just said... ^_^;; - Stevie |

I shouldn't really have been surprised as the description mentioned the robot club which doesn't have enough members and is in danger of being disbanded from before the season began but somehow I thought it would be more original. Not looking to change anyone's mind or be convinced to keep watching it, just making observations. I watch a lot of shows so things just tend to fall off my list if I don't really like them. I would love to be wrong, would love the show to finish introducing things and bring in a great story for the last eighteen episodes. |

Yeah, I hear what you're saying... my opinion about the show is pretty made up, so I certainly don't mind hearing from others. If the whole club storyline is bothering you this much, though, maybe a better plan would be to stop watching it as it comes out week to week... then come back once the series is complete and get the feelings of those of us who did watch it all the way through. Then if it sounded like things moved in a direction you'd like, you could always go back and marathon-watch it... nothing wrong with doing that... ^_^ - Stevie |

Since this is a thread about Robotics;Notes, it is presumed that people are here to discuss the current episode of the show. I put the stuff about Steins;Gate in spoilers because this is not a thread about that show and people that haven't watched it, but are watching Robotics;Notes, might be reading the thread. I have not played the game, I read the pre-show publicity that announced that character as appearing in it and said what her age was. That was sometime last spring when the show, or maybe the game, was announced. |
