The manga's actually a little different, but in character personality really. Yamato seems a little more cheeky and Mei a little less shy. There's actually more fan service in the manga than in the anime xD So the anime toned it down a little and made it "sweeter" if you will. But the anime made me cry so much lol I'll be happy either way; I think how it ended was perfect just the way it was, and if there's another season, great! If not, I'll live.

It was a perfect ending really! The show is called 'Say "I love you"' and in episode 13 near the start Yamato says, if you listen carefully to the Japanese, literally he says that he still wants to hear a word from her, a word. The subs say he is still waiting for her to say something, implying that he is waiting for her to say, "I love you" which is the English title of course. While the subtitle at the end says "I love you" if you listen she just says, almost whispered "suki", one word! I thought that was sweet, and perfect. She doesn't say "suki desu" even, just "suki" and the Japanese title "suki tte ii na yo" literally means to say "suki". I know, real Japanese geek here but it literally ends with Yamato asking for her to say suki and she does, loved it.

And she kissed him and he's sick so she probably got sick too but whatever, love is worth it!

Lol I totally agree with you xD It's not like I was disagreeing, just stating some differences. And I loved how it ended with her saying "I love you" too And thanks for the Japanese explanation, I really want to learn some when I get older lol

I wish they would have showed her saying it and his reaction to it. A bit disappointed about that but overall loved it!

@MoxiRoxi

Oh and I agree, there were differences for sure.

Study Japanese if you get an opportunity. I love it as you can tell...

Well, there will be the OAD and the manga continues so that is something at least... Yamato had already declared his love so I wasn't worried that he would not reciprocate.

I have yet to finish off this series, I might watch the remaining episodes today, only 3 I believe.
My little Monster was better from Fall season in my opinion but it could change when I finish off this series.

I really enjoyed both of them. Say I Love You is more of a pure shojo romance. My Little Monster is more of a romantic comedy. Say I Love You has some funny moments but is more romance focused. To me they are in fact so different, even more in the mangas that it is hard to compare them. My Little Monster is more complex, goes into more detail with the side characters. There are more possibilities seen compared to the story of Mei and Yamato but I love that story!

Both manga new volumes ship this week, can't wait!! So excited. BTOOOM! 10 gets here first though, looking forward to that one too.

I didn't like the ending of Tonari, really want to see what happens next, maybe another season? If themanga get's released in English I might buy it.

Wrong thread but agreed on the Tonari ending. For the rest of the season they followed the manga really closely so I don't know why they went off it for the last episode and yet didn't provide a closed anime ending either! At least Say I Love You resolved it, said "suki" "I love you" while Tonari both didn't wrap it up AND didn't do the next manga chapter which is really fun. Sigh...

I really wish Kodansha USA would license both of these for everyone to buy here.

I created this thread lol so no worries. Yea thats good to know so I shall support Tonari if they release it and hopefully a follow up on the anime following closely to the anime or I will buy the manga if it's released in English.
I will buy Say "Iove you" if it's released on dvd/blu-ray, and now I know it's close to the manga I might just stick with the anime.
