It was good. Though the stab scene was kinda bad IMO. I think that's the weakest variation of it for me regarding SAO for this arc.

LN > Original Web Novel > Anime regarding that stab scene.

rest of the ep was decent. Sad they did not keep in Liz's epilouge from LN / web novel. Or Klein's cry's for when Kirito was going to shatter.

I agree a lot of details have been left out but I guess they had work on the more major stuff so they could fit it all in 25 minutes.

It was good overall I would say, looking forward to the next episode!

as much as i agree it is a shame they rushed it to make it ft i really wouldn't of minded an extra episode unless they plan to start up ALO pretty fast from the next ep ? i was disappointed the novel told the death part of asuna and him so well yet the scene in the anime seemed....lacking in it somewhat =[

23 mins 40 secs. They could have cut out the OP too an extra 1 min 30 secs could help a bit... This IS an arc finale afterall.
Regardless of those complaints, A-1 did pretty well with their time restraints. At least this arc finale is actually decently enjoyable and not a train wreck.

I agree they could have cut the opening actually and added a few more scenes, but overall I'm personally satisfied.

And yes, I also think they shrank it down to 14 episodes because of the ALO plan. 11 episodes still sound very short though, well see how this works goes

Hmm ALO is pretty fast paced though. Most of it's events are over 2 or 3 days I think.
Haven't touched the LN's in a few months so eh...

I agree that the stab scene was different than the light Novel but I am not sure it was bad. I think they opted to show their will power instead of Kirito's speed. So Asuna dived in front of the blade even though she was not supposed to move and Kirito was able to hold his body together even though he was dead. At least that's what I think the director was trying to show.

I do wish that the game clearing had been more complete. In the computer holding everyone's health level and then when the game ends logging them out. When I was reading the light novel allot of my joy was centered around that.

All in favor of an exciting new plotline, but this genuinely makes me question why the Laughing Coffins and player-generated society were featured to the extent they were if they were not going to feature. While this may be a feature of this genre of anime, I still am left shaking my head over it...

I'm going to try not to spoil as much but all I'm going to say is that some societies from SAO will be highlighted at some point on the next few arcs

I will post some kind of prediction response from the fans when ALO starts, so dont click unless you want to spoiled in some way.

I'm happy were going to see some of the best fights in the arc! Looking forward to it

To me it seemed like there was a lot missing even just leading up to this episode. And, as it seems that we are all of like minds, the stab scene did seem....lacking, but overall I am extremely pleased with how it's all turned out so far. If they are adding the second story arc, then I have to agree that 11 episodes seems too short...so maybe that could (pure speculation) hint at a season 2..?

Im hoping the second season or ALO is a sure thing and they dont have to give SAO a lame ending to wrap things up. im hoping they go straight to ALO without changing the ending of SAO. and yea i was totally thinking the whole time during the stab scene *now i remember why i like reading novels, being able to read the players thoughts and emotions laid out like they do in all literature is much more engaging* but its not really easy to convey that in animated form. As for troy's comment i think the author wanted to do alot of character development and again its based on a light novel i guess making a full blown book isnt possible. he probably had to leave alot out. especially if it became and anime format. Its a balance of just right story length and development. Iv seen a few animes where the manga isnt all the way complete or the like and since the anime has so many episodes it can have they just tweak the ending and make it so so without any concrete development. for example Astrotte no omocha had an anime befor manga is complete and the anime kinda so so ended, it makes me worry the manga will end in a similarly fail way. the Claymore anime did the same in deviating from the manga towards the end
