I think your college experience changes drastically if you commute or live in a dorm. I personally am glad I lived in a dorm but i think i might elect for a cheaper option next year.

Lived in a dorm during my first semester at University. It's highly overrated, overpriced and uncomfortable. I like to have privacy, I don't like to eat out, and I don't like to share bathroom with people I don't know. So living in dorm wasn't something I enjoyed. Glad to be out of it. The only thing I liked about dorm was that it was close to classes, but that's not on top of my priority list.
My advice: get few good friends and rent an apartment with them. Cheaper and more comfortable.

it was fun for me, except the windows didnt open so when one person got sick everyone got sick. but we had 2 rooms connected by a bathroom, i guess a lot of dorms are that way or, apparently, theres still a good amount with community bathrooms. But its a real fast way to meet people, we just wedged our door open when we were home and people would stop by and talk....though a few months ago there was an armed robbery in the dorm i lived in freshman year....

The dorms that I have lived in were okay. However, I probably wouldn't stay at a all girls dorm ever again. While there was drama (there's drama at the coed ones too) it was just boring. Good luck finding people who share many interests with you. Plus you better not be a germaphobe otherwise you will never shower because those bathrooms are so nasty. I used to wear shower shoes.

I spent more time at the coed dorms than the girls dorm.

If you do find some friends in a girls dorm, get ready for Vampire Diaries or whatever marathons. I remember getting invited to a Grey's Anatomy marathon way back when.

its fun, you'd never be bored unless you'd cram urself into your room and be completely antisocial. but its guranteed that people will try to be friends with you. and as starry mentioned, theres drama whether your boy or girl. its definately fun to watch other peoples drama though.

You do not want to live in a dorm.

My roommate last year was constantly bringing his girlfriend in and having sex with her in the wee hours of the morning while I was trying to sleep. He was constantly blaring music and playing COD with his annoying ass friends which made studying impossible. He was very messy and the room had a consistent putrid odor in it, whether it was garlic sitting in the trash can or whatever other nasty crap he ate. If you do not want to live in these conditions, then do everything you possibly can to avoid having to live in dorms.

I used to shout into the heating duct to check if my friend in the next room was awake. Wait, this isn't really a reason to live in a dorm...

Dorms can be fun depending on who your roommate/suitemate is. I like my dorm room a lot. It's nice, spacious and in general me and the other girls keep the bathroom and living room clean. We trust each other enough to leave our doors open. Now, one of my suitemates have a tendency to make out with her boyfriend in the open areas. Once she left her boyfriend half naked sitting on our couch. -__-. But, like I said, you can have a good experience living in a dorm.

It'd be interesting to say the least. I don't know how I would feel about letting someone I don't know in the least bit sleep in the same room as me, but I guess it'd be alright.

I love my dorm. It all depends on what you decide to do. I live with two other roommates. One is barely ever here, and the other one is weird like me. Our hall is Co-ed and most of our guys are Computer Science majors so they spend most of their time in their rooms. It's mostly filled with first years, and 2nd, and 3rd years. Honestly there are always a group of people who think they are good, and don't want to associate with others. Overall the hall events are fun and entertaining. It's something that can give you a great experience or a bad one.
