Sorata is being ridiculously pathetic in this episode.
I was practically raging throughout. That ending was totally predictable, and I kept telling myself since the start of the episode that Sorata would definitely end up throwing his anger at Shiina. Even an idiot knows that hard work =/= success. So what if you put in a lot of hard work and did not achieve your goal? What did Shiina even do to you? Not to mention that she bloody helped you drew that cover to pass your screening. I kind of get it why he's more towards Nanami now. It definitely makes him feel better that he isn't the only one failing. What a fucking loser, getting butthurt over everything. |

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Think about it this way. Lets compare Shiina and Sorata. You have one who is talented in drawing and painting but cannot care for herself and is socially very awkward (although I find it cute so sue me lol) then the other who isn't as talented in drawing but is definitely able to care for himself. I think the overall point you should get from this is being a genius or not a genius doesn't make one or the other good or bad. It's the notion that you see what your failures are as a person and what failures occur in your life and you do your best to improve. I'll never admit something is hopeless or I should give up and not try. But, I'll neither blame someone else for my shortcomings or failures when I as a person should learn to figure out things the best that I can. While I may be different in wanting Sorata and Shiina to be the two together, in my eyes, they have the most to learn from one another and I think the fact they've had each other has shown them the path (even though Sorata loses it slightly at the end of the episode) of what they should be doing with their own lives. |

Resentment is a powerful emotion when life is shitting all over you. It's also easily possible that the guy who was working with him wanted to see him succeed but the company had zero intention of making his game and just wanted to see more samples of Shiinas work. The letter pretty much confirmed that to me, could be wrong though I guess we'll just have to wait and see. |

If Shiina's work caught the company's interest and not the game that Sorata made, then it further proves that he has no talent in making games. He should've accepted the result and work harder or simply give up. That was the second time he threw his anger at Shiina because of his own failure. I hope next episode is not as predictable as this one. Pretty sure Shiina is going to leave Sakura Hall in order to save them. (That isn't a spoiler, just my prediction.) |

I pretty much agree with what your saying here. Shiina seems to be his punching bag when he fails and in particular to other aspects of what is going on around him. Annoys me to no end.

Where is everyone seeing Sorata blaming Shiina for anything? When Shiina got her illustration on the cover of that magazine, Sorata was fine. It was only when Shiina got the request from the video game panel that he got frustrated, and his frustration wasn't even directed at her. He was frustrated because it felt like no matter how much effort he put into his project, the only part of it that was recognised was a part that he wasn't responsible for. He feels powerless and useless, as though none of his hard work will ever pay off. I'm sure he sees something similar happening to Nanami, which only backs up that belief of his. He was venting at the world for being so unforgiving to those who put maximum effort in, but don't have prodigious talents. He would have vented even if Shiina hadn't been there. But she was, and his words hurt her. Once he realised this and called her back, the damage had been done.

I'll be honest, this show WAS a solid 9 out of 10 for me, not anymore
It all went downhill with the second half of the series, I can't believe I thought it was comparable to Toradora :/ Mashiro and Nanami are the only characters I still care about Hell, Ryunosuke would've made a better lead than Sorata imo |

At how serious and real it was. Nanami's breakdown; and Sorato letting it all out emotionally as well; Mashiro's hurt--she seems to be becoming more and more self-aware (all the characters seem to have done this during the course of the show), and yet it's not out of place with earlier, happy episodes, because the show has been mixing in elements of personal struggle right along. Here that struggle is culminating for our three key characters. I was enjoying this show well enough--definitely "above average" but with this episode it gets bumped up a notch. |

Click to show or hide Do you not remember when he was giving Shiina the cold shoulder back when she was trying to cook something for Sorata and he had an attitude with her for a couple of episodes? That's when Sorata failed the first time. It doesn't matter that he "might" have done it whether Shiina was around or not. The point is Shiina IS there when he blows up and i don't remember him ever treating Aoyami that way. |

It's funny to see people making up excuses for Sorata's shitty attitude. I don't think he is justified in any way to bust his short fuse at Shiina. He regretted it the first time he did it, and yet he does it again. At least they could have changed up the drama a bit. It made me rage whenever I see little to no development in a pubescent MC.
Not to mention that he never apologized for lashing out at Shina the first time. Their reconciliation at the park was practically a non-apology for Sorata, in fact, he tried to justify his behavior to her. Besides, he's been working on this project of his for what? A year, maybe even less, so it's infuriating to see him throw a shitfit when the other tenants of Sakurasou have been working on their craft for a much longer time. |

That's when Sorata failed the first time. It doesn't matter that he "might" have done it whether Shiina was around or not. The point is Shiina IS there when he blows up and i don't remember him ever treating Aoyami that way. That incident has nothing to do with the incident in episode 21. The reason Sorata was angry at her then was because she was injuring herself and didn't seem concerned about it. He finds it hard to think of her as a girl with normal emotions, probably because of how different she is from your average person. The title of the show is "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou", but Sorata seems to treat her more like a pet than a girl. But that's a completely different scenario, and I don't think Sorata's motivation is the same this time around. I just don't believe he vented his frustrations because Shiina was there. Everyone else had gone inside apart from him and Shiina, and the barely opened letter was the straw that broke the camel's back. Had he been on his own or with Nanami when he opened the letter, do you think he would have somehow staved off that breaking point and waited until he was alone with Shiina to release his frustration? That's what it boils down to here. Look, I don't think Sorata is looking at Shiina in the right way. I think she deserves to be treated more like a girl. But I also don't think that he's blaming her successes for his failures. It's been made clear that he idolises Shiina's undying perseverance. He just has no idea what more he can do. |
