To spoil or not to spoil... really stop being butt hurt, it is a service that you are spoiled beyond the anime, god knows you're not going to get the chance to read the novel yourself...

A lot of people put old quoted messages and images in spoiler tags to keep things neat but that means people are used to clicking them. Then once in a while they regret it... when they don't notice the "novel spoilers" part.

Dodging spoilers ain't like dusting crops, boy! Without precise calculations you could stumble onto a future episode spoiler, or bounce too close to a light novel spoiler and that'd end the mystery and suspense real quick, wouldn't it.

people should just not use spoilers, because obviously using spoilers makes people read the spoilers...

Truly awesome episode 24. Instead of fading out gracefully, it put the foot on the accelerator Misaki style ;)

After that "encore" episode, I'd desperately love a season 2, but shojo/slice of life shows don't have the greatest track record

I don't know if it was this show or another one that I corrected people about somewhere else (or earlier in this thread) within the last couple of weeks, but Pet Girl of Sakurasou is neither shojo nor slice-of-life. The original light novels are classified under the "Male" demographic, and the manga version is seinen.

While the story has a very "slice-of-life" feel to it, it is not actually classified as such. Originally, slice of life was a term used to distinguish between traditional "dramatic" dialog writing in plays, such as the use of iambic pentameter by Shakespeare or other forms on unrealistic sounding speech, from plays with realistic sounding dialog. In that sense, Pet Girl is slice of life, but so is almost all modern theater. The term, as it is used now, refers to shows that depict the mundane, everyday life of the characters, as opposed to some sort of epic story. In that sense, the show also qualifies, except for the proviso that one of the main points of emphasis in the story is the entirely NON-mundane talents and abilities of some of those characters. In addition, the level of "zany" antics by the characters places the show even further outside the traditional slice-of-life area. The other aspect of the show that takes it out of the slice-of-life arena is the storytelling structure. It is arc-based and serial in nature. There were one or two stand-alone episodes, like the one with Sorata's sister, but most of the episodes flow from one to the other, with a single story being told over a series of episodes. In general, slice-of-life shows don't have the story continuity across multiple episodes. (Of course, there are dozens of shows that are classified as slice-of-life that do have that serial structure as well.) All in all, I would still probably label it as slice of life if I were doing the labeling. However, regardless of my opinions, the show is not listed as slice of life on any of the major sites.

The genre it is listed under is "romantic comedy". It is also frequently listed with "drama" and "school" in the genre or theme listings.

Decent ending/new beginning.

I really dislike how Shiina was handled in the show. If she can't hold down a decent conversation whenever a new season is made I'll be disappointed.

Well, some people are never able to carry on a decent conversation in real life...

I think the character development for Mashiro was excellent over the course of the series. She has become fully capable of making her feelings and desires known, at least to Sorata. That is more than you can say for Nanami!

Sure she develops, but that doesn't stop her from being boring. It's not as if she is incapable of uttering more than 3 syllables at a time, she held down some decent conversation at the train station. In the end she is a walking piece of fan service.

The ending was just charming. it did not disappoint. These characters were great. Misaki surprised me. i thought with her over-the-top antics she would just bug the hell out of me. Instead she turned out to be funny. I liked Sorata and Nanami as characters while Mashiro and Ryuunosuke got great development. This show made me think of how many times i've failed to accomplish despite hard work. this has got to be one of the most realistic animes I've seen.

It's overrrrrrrrrrrrr. =[
But it was a sweet ride with nice themes of continually trying your hardest to achieve what you want. The character development was great though I was a little disappointed with the last episode. I kinda felt that the 2nd to last episode was a better ending episode.. sorta. Regardless, the last episode was solid and a nice ending to a nice anime

Similar in what ways? There are lots of romantic anime that don't have harems, some fine examples of which are on this very site (Toradora!, ef - a tale of memories, My Little Monster, Kokoro Connect, Kimi ni Todoke... these are some of my favourites).

If you can get over your aversion towards childlike characters (even if they're not actually young children) you might like Honey and Clover. The main female is a talented artist, but has poor social skills and looks much younger than she is.

sounds cool... yeah im not sure why i mean they make these girls look so underdeveloped..ugh. when watching my pet girl, in the begining when it was a picture of her i thought " here when was we go with the loli complex" but she was alot older... i will check it out then... I am realy hoping for another season of my pet girl of sakurasou... i loved it
