My internal debate on creating this thread ...

Anyways, Music can be seperated into a technical understanding of the beats and melody BUT sometimes ... Lyrics speak to a personal aspect of ourselves.

The thing is, these lyrics are subjective due to personal experience and interpretation. So I got curious a few days ago ... "Would the same lyrics be vastly different depending upon the person?"

I thought that was too limiting and left it up to the random interactions of people to intersect in some way.

So ..... the basic meaning of this thread IS

SKIP HERE FOR THE MAIN QUESTION

What song's lyrics have impacted you and why?

FOR EX:
Eisley - Come Clean
http://youtu.be/7yvdtPpbnfw

So, there, I shared mine. I don't expect something this personal from the rest of CR but still .... what lyrics have moved you? Why? What do they mean to you?

It's subjective so there is no real RIGHT answer but I am still curious.

This thread really caught my interest... I don't think I can go into as much detail as you funnyginsan and it may not have as many layers, but here goes. It will get quite personal and I normally don't share this stuff with people, but since you had the guts to share I might as well too.

Wow. I didn't expect another person to be this personal in a public thread. First of all thank you. Second of all ...

Anyways, I don't expect people to go that in depth with each song. I realize that my initial post could drive a lot of people off so here is another example.

The White Stripes - I'm lonely (But I ain't that lonely yet)
http://youtu.be/zuS3YgcJCJM

"this song feels like an Ex who went through a bad experience. The girl in this is going though a bunch of relationships in succession and even though it makes him feel jealous; he's not willing to give into his loneliness."

It impacted me because I have seen that process occur in friends as well as myself.

What an interesting thread! Most of the songs which move me are usually instrumental but there are however a few songs with lyrics which manages to bring out a tear our two =)

Fates Warning - Another Perfect Day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeKTj6Ly1lw
Warning I'm getting pretty personal here...
I'm not gonna type anything in the lyrics...it's kind of spelled out for you anyway.
Here are the lyrics

You are welcome. Frankly, I'm too honest for my own good when it comes to this, but I always reckon sharing stuff like this will make others less afraid of sharing too and if they can be inspired or helped in any way then that's fulfilling for me.

Yeah I think this thread is pretty amazing since every person's take on different songs is their own and unique.

I know where you are coming from in a way with the conditioning of retelling your story over and over. And thank you, I am not afraid of telling people about it, chances are they have experienced something similar and can relate in some way. It is pretty much taboo here to speak aloud about mental illnesses and as soon as you step inside the psychiatric world you are forever labeled. I'm fighting to try and break this taboo by talking about it openly, I'm not sure if it works or not. Of course I always analyze situations to see whether or not it's appropriate to bring up.

I'm glad you responded to me anyway and that you had something to say to it at least (when posting I thought all right either it is ignored, that's fine with me or people will actually have someting to say to it which would be awesome, all I can do is reach out to others, whether they grasp my hand or not is up to them) I know too well just how personal this is and I don't expect anyone to talk about it freely, least of all in a puplic thread like this.

So, I apologize for my long rant, but thank you for responding to me.

Hey there, just read your post and listened to the song. It was quite moving and I understand why it makes you feel sad. The lyrics in this song explains pretty well how you must be feeling. Sounds like to me you can be blinded from the light of the world, even though you're probably trying to see the sun above the clouds.

I believe it's a matter of time before you find someone again you can be happy with.

Thanks for replying. Let's assume that the sun is happiness and that the clouds are my depression. If I'm shown to what happiness really is at that time, I cannot allow myself to see it because I've been working it up to be something much more awesome that it really is.
Sounds reasonable right?

So how about you, Amunat? Allow me to share some thoughts with you.

Mail me if you wanna talk some more.

When I lived in Berkeley (CA), I stumbled upon a hardcore club with a few bands playing. One of these bands were At Risk. They played a song which really moved me. It made me realize that it's time I rise up and try to live my life as much as I can despite all this shit going on inside me.
I want to share it with you all although it might not be on youtube. Here's the link anyway
At Risk - Shattered

and here's the lyrics:

Yeah, I think it does sound reasonable. I just found everything around me to be pretty amazing when I first started to be happy, but when you are suffering from depression it's impossible to see any light.

I agree completely that the depression is our own always and no matter how much you share it and talk about it, it is up to ourselves to get through it. People can only show us the path, but walking and choosing the right one can be difficult. You and YOU alone knows the way out of the darkness. That's true.

In answer to your song I must say I love these lyrics and it's the exact same thing I experinced at one point. Actually it's cool so many songs have the same message as in this one. I find it really awesome this helped you realize that you had to change a thing or two.

I don't know why it wouldn't let me put spoilers when quoting your post, oh well.

Here's what I think you wanted to do Amunat

Anyways, to contribute:

The Beatles - We can work it out

http://youtu.be/zn_ZdX6nQvw

lyrics:

It's a very simple song but I think the message is important. "If we talk it out in a detailed way I'm sure we can figure this out. Life is too short for two friends like us to be fighting"
