Do you even realize how much nyquil with DXM you have to take to start having hallucinations? >.> Yes, I do know how much it takes to hallucinate (for me a little more than half a bottle if its 30mg... also I DO NOT recommend doing this, I spent the rest of the night vomiting and pissing out of my ass). But that's besides the point. My point was that there was too many other unnecessary medications, including that one. Why take a cocktail of medications to only receive the benefits of one? And again, it makes your sleep shitty and you wake up groggy.ZZZquil.... just for sleeping... without the extra medications... |

Mine is a bit meditative, and you might want to practice this a bit before hand to get it down.
1. First, take deep, slow, calming breaths while slowly closing your eyes. 2. Continue focusing on your breathing while slowing and removing all thoughts, excitements and aggressions. Become relaxed in both body and mind. Think of nothingness. Quiet, serene nothingness. Peaceful, tranquil silence. Until your thoughts themselves are silent. Peace and calm. Lose yourself too it, and wash everything away. 3. After a while you should acquire the skill to sleep or rest anywhere you want. The thing is, I tend to have had problems sleeping at times when I couldn't stop thinking, or due to emotions of anger, sadness, and excitement. And, since I can't sleep with all of that going through my head, I just slow them down, remove them, and bring myself to peace of mind. Just try the mind clearing exercise, and tell me if it helps sooth you a bit. EDIT: You'll probably end up mixing several methods. Also, long hot baths are very relaxing. |

Personally I play some calm piano music on very low volume.
My favourite music radio is: http://solopianoradio.com/ Alternatively, do the same as MopZ. |

Like PurrtyKitty said, exercise like a quick run around the block, followed by a hot shower works. I suppose the biggest question would be are you feeling tired during the day, where you feel you didn't get enough sleep? Or is it that you just don't sleep alot? I only sleep usually about six hours or so, and then wake up. Usually well before my alarm is to go off.

Sanity is merely someone's perspective on your reality.

Hopeless romantics with hopes and dreams.

Nothing more effective than just spending your energy. Thus why most people with insomnia are office workers who sit down all day.
Also, when you go to bed with too much energy you wake up feeling tired. It's just relative. |

Turn the brightness down on the tv, turn the volume low, set the sleep timer for an hour and watch "The Universe."
I don't care if it's the middle of the day, you just drank a pot of coffee, and you love astronomy and physics. You'll be unconscious before the first 15 minutes is up. |

and foolish though it may seem, to me that's everything.

What I do is I never let myself get into the mindset that I can't sleep. If I find myself saying that to myself, I quickly tell myself that is not true since I'm perfectly healthy and I work hard as heck at my job, I need that sleep, and my body will let me have it, it wont deny it because my mind is racing about not being able to sleep if I don't let it.
Also, if you find yourself in the "I CAN'T SLEEP" mindset, take your mind off it any way you can, if you're sitting in bed doing nothing and not getting sleep then get out of bed and actually do something to get your mind off of that and just don't worry about it, worry is usually the problem here, sleep is not something that you should worry about too much, sure you need 8 hours of it, but that doesn't mean that you should worry so much that you can't sleep at all, its better to sleep 6 hours than to sit in your bed for 4 hours with only 4 hours of sleep. Stress. worry. Get those out of your mind any way you can and then you can sleep better. |
