A few things that might help:
Getting plenty of regular physical exercise - nothing gets your body ready for some rest better than physical activity.
Getting plenty of regular mental exercise - this will help you dream well and keep you mental faculties in check.
Getting plenty of sunshine regularly soon after waking - this helps you calibrate your circadian rhythm.
Reading literature that you're interested in when preparing to sleep, preferably one that doesn't hype you up - this helps you relax.
Meditating when preparing to sleep - meditation isn't something I'm good at but if done right will also help you relax.
Masturbating when preparing to sleep - yes, masturbation is good for you and as long as you aren't particularly stressed, it'll help you relax.
Doing some activity that'll help you relax - I don't think that it's possible to sleep when you're hyped.
Taking antihistamine about an hour before sleeping - as long as you aren't regularly taking antihistamines then taking one should make you feel really sleepy. Unlike sleeping pills, this doesn't make you feel spent when you wake up. In fact you'll probably feel quite rested.

read or think about doing something you don't want to do like having to clean the entire house by yourself (Usually when I do this I end up yelling "Bullsh**! I'm tired & going to sleep" just the thought makes me extremely tired) or start singing to yourself ( I eventually start to yawn into the song & fall asleep) or drink a glass of milk or large bottle of water

Drink warm milk. If it's not too late and theres no one that will be bothered, take a warm bath/shower. Good luck staying awake after that! lol

Try to prepare at least 30 minutes before bed.
- Reduce contact with electronics
- Turn off lights
- Avoid all meals
- Have a warm bath
- Try to reduce room temperature
- Ensure you have clean sheets
- Try deep breathing exercises
- Think about how your day was
...finally, don't think about sleeping/don't try to force yourself to sleep, your sleep probably wouldn't be very pleasant
