I used to have this problem, actually I still do, here I will share some tips that worked for me, it may or may not work for you, but I feel I am knowledgeable enough to a degree where I can share mine on here... We all know, i hope, that coffee is the #1 consuming factor of stimulant in the USA (I drink espresso shots to keep me awake in class, it may help in certain ways, but find myself experiencing shakiness and sorta weak rather maintaining alertness). Maybe considering decaf. Caffeine, not only it will keep you awake at night, is also bad for you in the long run by physical means. A lot of times, it can also be a state of mind over matter, such as stress, if you're a busy person, brain may probably be active still, thinking about what you need to do tomorrow or the next day.
My tips on improving your sleep.... I find this method very useful to me... I always sleep at 9pm, I start preparing at 8, and hit the bed at around 8:30 (You may wanna do some of your meditation routine, breathing exercise if you have any). Putting you to sleep by drinking milk is a myth. A lot of people drink milk in the morning before going to school, so what does that tell you. Listening to soothing music may help mentally thus will put your mind into a state of relaxation. Green tea, eh... I know green tea helps with digestion but sleep... Not to my knowledge. Antihistamine can be done but consider only taking it for emergency reasons. Abusing the product, i hope you'll know what will eventually happen if you did. There you have it, if none of these won't work for you, my best bet is to see your local doctor. if you don't have insurance, I am sure there are free clinics around, if not, pay for the service, better to know what you have right now than to sacrifice later. |

1) Listen to soothing music. If I can't sleep, I listen to Luka Megurine's "Just Be Friends" -- Music Box version. c:
2) Go on a device of some sort, or an electronic. If you stay on it, you get tired and just pass out. LOL That's what I always and usually do.. aha. ♥ |

Or any of their albums for that matter. I had to listen to the album once over before I started enjoying it but it's probably one of my all time favourite albums. |
