I was impressed with this series. I am moved by the overcoming overwhelming odds in a few episodes; especially episode 12. I believe the series ended exactly as it should have considering the numbers of tanks each side was working with, whether they had the Maus or not. The handling of the last episode was predictable, but I didn't see it ending any other way and they still win the tournament. I would be a huge letdown if they went through all this for the series' heroines to lose anyway. I'm still happy to have seen this series.

innovations?

Like the idea that only one tank in ten needs a radio? and the rest can make do with semaphore and signal lights?
Or the upgrade to an 85mm gun so that...it has the same firepower as the 75 that everyone else was using.
Wait I know. It's that awesome suspension system.... invented by an American named Christie.

Look... don't get me wrong.

The T-34 was a great tank for it's time and even ahead of it's time in someways. It's one of the Iconic tanks of WWII. It's reasonably popular at it's tier in World of Tanks, it has a good points cost vs. performance in Squad Leader, and I've faced annoying numbers of 15mm models of it across the table in Flames of War. I admire the courage of factory workers who drove unpainted bare steel tanks that they just finished the final welds on directly into battle... But ...

It's not god.

The T-28 was more numerous even After Field Marshall Budenny surrendered half the soviet army in '41. The KV and IS series was more responsible for german efforts to upgun and uparmour their own tanks. and as for the Main Battle Tank.

Given that the British Centurion is acknowledged as the first 'universal' or 'main battle tank' then I'd argue that tanks like the Challenger, Cromwell, even the Churchill and Crusader were of far more influence in it's evolution than the admittedly worthy T-34.

So, you are using standards from both the Allies and the Germans when all 3 sides has totally different military doctrine and yet the Russians manage to coordinate, encircle and crushed the Wehrmacht encircling Stalingrad? And then the same said radio-less tank pushed the Panzer Divisions back to Berlin?

Or the upgrade to an 85mm gun so that...it has the same firepower as the 75 that everyone else was using.

Oh right, only guns with smaller caliber can has greater penetrating power against German armor especially when they are right across the open field more right over the horizon. Gee, I thought that bigger caliber and faster muzzle velocity always have a better penetrating potential against heavily armored vehicles.

Wait I know. It's that awesome suspension system.... invented by an American named Christie.

What a coincidence! The British has the same system too! Same mind think alike, eh?

Ok, enough with the sarcasm... I'll stop it right here because this will become really ugly if we continue.

Nope, T-34 was rarely appreciated because the tank that preceded it is utterly painful to grind. People usually research the T-34 just for the sake of completion.

It's not god.

I didn't say anything about T-34 being invincible. The sloped armor was there to reduce the need of extra armor and make lucky bounces.

The T-28 was more numerous even After Field Marshall Budenny surrendered half the soviet army in '41.

If you combine all of the other Russian tanks produced before and during WW2, it is only fraction of compared to the T-34 they produced.

The KV and IS series was more responsible for german efforts to upgun and uparmour their own tanks.

Both KV and T-34 were responsible the Wehrmacht forced to upgrade their tanks on the initial phase of Operation Barbarosa. The Stalin tank were develop after the Russians encountered the Panther and Tiger I. The King Tiger was developed after they have encountered the Stalin tank. So what you said is partially true since one of Wehrmacht's primary concern is the T-34 which was produce in huge quantity and it can easily overrun their occupied territory.

Yes, the British may have developed the 1st MBT but if you look back at the Eastern Front in WW2, the T-34 fill the role of infantry tanks, cavalry tanks and it even took over the role of a heavy tank. This is years before the 1st Centurion roll out from the factory.

Loved it, awesome battle!

Second season doesn't look likely but from the sales you never know. I'm just not sure what they'd do for an encore...

I had been wondering if they were going to bring out a MAUS.
That was a cool series Lots of fun to watch. I think a season 2 may not be as good, so if this it; I'm happy.
To slightly alter a line from Bob Hope:
TANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!

Doesn't matter about there being an all female cast or not, it's just a moe girls with tanks anime
Just like Upotte was a moe girls with guns anime
And K-On is...just moe girls doing nothing lol

All with a female cast of characters, all aimed at the male audience

I agree. I could live with not seeing more if they didn't mess up a great completed story. That said I'm hooked on the characters and the concept I think they could have some fun with it. We never got to see the 'Italian school' in action. and encore battles with former underdogs trying to prove their champion status wasn't a fluke could be fun too. the French had some early war tanks that might be competitive. (no worse than the Italians and the Japanese, actually NO ONE was worse in tank tech than the Japanese.) Other schools using established tanks but in more odball configurations (much like Oorai's eclectic team) might be amusing to see as well.

A second season would have to find a new source of conflict and character development since it seems all of Oorai's really compelling battles have been won. and How would you raise the stakes?

the school's closing again, this time because the carrier's sinking! only tankery can save it!

i still think it's crazy to have a full sized town/school on a flattop. i think the 3rd OVA covered more into school ships, which i'd like to see at some point. wonder if sentai will include that whenever we see a NA release this year.
