Loved it, awesome battle!

Second season doesn't look likely but from the sales you never know. I'm just not sure what they'd do for an encore...

I agree. I could live with not seeing more if they didn't mess up a great completed story. That said I'm hooked on the characters and the concept I think they could have some fun with it. We never got to see the 'Italian school' in action. and encore battles with former underdogs trying to prove their champion status wasn't a fluke could be fun too. the French had some early war tanks that might be competitive. (no worse than the Italians and the Japanese, actually NO ONE was worse in tank tech than the Japanese.) Other schools using established tanks but in more odball configurations (much like Oorai's eclectic team) might be amusing to see as well.

A second season would have to find a new source of conflict and character development since it seems all of Oorai's really compelling battles have been won. and How would you raise the stakes?

With the sales as high as they are, my only fear is a poor second season with little point to it, "Girls and Tanks and The Quest for Yet More Money..."

the school's closing again, this time because the carrier's sinking! only tankery can save it!

i still think it's crazy to have a full sized town/school on a flattop. i think the 3rd OVA covered more into school ships, which i'd like to see at some point. wonder if sentai will include that whenever we see a NA release this year.

Yes, OVA 3 is "School Ship War" after the first two being "Water War" and "Survival War". I have them on imports. The "School Ship War" talks about the ship they live on, including the onsen they made on the roof so they can have a sunset bath...

Fourth OVA is going to be the complete Anko Dance. Previous volumes have sold about 30K, I wonder if that one will sell even more...

Hpulley I agree with you. they shouldn't come with a second season until they have something resembling a plot. which means they need a new villian/challenger. New stakes to put on the line. and some new combat challenges to test the team's ingenuity and fighting style. oh and new ... character development. Given that it appears that The Gunner has resolved her mom issues, Nishizumi has come out of her shell and proven herself to her family, and the school has been saved... I'm not sure off hand what else they have to work with.

That said. I don't think it's an impossible task. I also don't think anyone would object to a second round of battles between Oorai and all the friends they made. so there would be plenty of pleasant filler fodder.

One Idea I had would would be to have multi-school cooperative battles and have one or two of last season's opponents actually fighting alongside oorai and developing their own characters a little more in depth.

The only thing I can think of for raising the the stakes would be some sort of threat to all the schools or tankery as a whole....Though simply having a higher level of tournament to compete in might be enough to pass. It seems the heroines have been truly bitten by the tankery bug and don't have to be forced into competing anymore.

Three have been released so far with the import discs. They will not be broadcast as far as I know. The next one is on April 26 IIRC.

You're right, they have a rich set of underdeveloped side characters and schools so there is potential if they can find the right antagonist.

They should keep the same characters and schools so we can continue the personal relationships and character story. But this time they join the U-boat club and we can have 'Girls und Unterseeboot'. Or am I the only one that thinks submarine battles might be kinda cool to?

Well, the last 2 episodes were quite a battle. It was worth the wait!

Good end to the series. I hope we'll get more in the future.
