You know, I'm surprised that this is a far more serious show that I expected it to be.

The Sherman battle was exciting and entertaining. Whatever the production problem was, ep 6 didn't disappoint. And now we know why Oorai restarted their Tank program:

It stands to reason that if their Tankery team is highly successful, then the reason you have listed in the spoiler tag will probably be negated, as a result.

Aw, c'mon, folks. Why so serious here?
It's a mecha-fantasy anime, not IRL.
Just because ALL the tanks go WAY too fast, and nobody ever has to worry about shrapnel, or concussive damage, or any of those pesky little things that make an IRL Tanker's life something just short of Hell.... "Oh! The interior of our tank's on fire..right where the ammo's stored! It's ok, Leader Girl! We're just fine here!"
Look, the line art's pretty darned good. The characters are cute, and even seem to have personalities...even BACK STORYS!
Take it with a grain of salt; sit back, and enjoy the guilty pleasure of the ride, ok?

Never said it was realistic. I said it was more serious than I expected. There's quite a bit of difference between those two statements.

To me, this is probably the worst series so far this season. It was torturous to watch. Will not be continuing this one.

So, after seeing how high the preorders for this series was, I decided to give it another go and I have to admit that my first impressions of this series was wrong. I watched 4 episodes in a row and enjoyed it. Not the best this season, but pretty good.

It is a fun series. I am still not sure why but I really look forward to the next episode each week. The characters are good and the story, simple as it seems to be, has drawn me in.

:) Never said I was speaking about your remark, specifically, friend Panditio. My comment was directed at the thread, as a whole.
Cheers!

Love this show. But like Flight Witches, if you are not familiar with that aspect of World War 2 history, it is easy to get lost. Fortunately, those are my hobbies, so in Flight Witches, it was easy to spot Hartmann, Schnaufer, Barkhorn and so on. Some of the details in Flight Witches were very subtle. Note the babyish behavior of Erika Hartmann. During the war, Erich Hartmann (who incidentally was the top scoring ace of all time) is nicknamed Bubi or Baby for his boyish appearance.

In Girls und Panzer, all the tanks featured displayed characteristics faithful to their history. The fact they included that thin tracks easily slip or lose traction is amazing. The fact that the commander of the Stug wears that cap and refers to her soulmate name as "Erwin" is amazing, as it alludes to Erwin Rommel, aka The Desert Fox. Note the Latin inscription on their StuG III. Pay attention to the background music as well, because they are playing the old marching tunes.

I am guessing at some point in time they would have to face up against a squad with Russian T-34s and ultimately against a squad that might have Panthers and a Tiger Tank. The Tiger is the boss tank of WWII and the "boss" in the series would have to use one.

Of the current squad, the Panzer 4 with the short 75mm gun is no good against tough opposition. It actually represents an earlier model of the series, whereas later models were all up armored and up gunned enough even to take out that Sherman Firefly. The StuG III is a killer though, and historically they wiped out well above their number in kills to loss ratios. The Grant is a so so, but the other two tanks are feeble, especially the Japanese tank. It's probably there only in the series to show that the Japanese did build a tank in World War II, albeit a very forgettable one. They are going to either need, more tanks, bigger tanks with better tanks.

You lose then, perhaps. After all tastes differ. But this anime get's better with age.

I just wish WoT had a skin or a mod that allowed your crew to be cute anime girls or to paint your tanks those unfortunate colours.

Speaking of WoT the anime had me at the first 5 seconds of deployment. They did far far better than your typical WoT pickup game. sometimes it takes half a minute for the sound of giant robots humping to die down as everyone runs into each other and refuses to back off.

Don't open if you're being 'good and waiting for the show to air here. (sigh... I just couldn't wait for my fix. Though trying the decipher the German conceit/fetish of the fan-subbers makes me unlikely to do that again.)

I don't know.... I kinda like the show. It has a different theme and the ideals are well.... I admit are a bit out there but hey its fun to watch. If your looking for a serious anime then this isn't it. It's a humorus story and its not something that you really have to wrap your brain around. It's just a entertaining little piece(well to me anyway.lol)

Did Crunchyroll just cut out the Katyusha singing part from episode 8?! What the hell?

WTH happened to the Katyusha scene? I was looking forward to that? I really sincerely hope there is a good explanation for it, because frankly I'm quite upset. You don't have to translate the damn song, its a RUSSIAN FOLK SONG. How idiotic is that? I'm really upset. You bet this is going all over my SNS feeds. What a complete and utter garbage.

I don't know why people rate this anime so low, it is better than half the stuff out there maybe not this season but seriously this is a fun anime to watch.

There's no random panty shot, so this doesn't offend the "why do tentacle exist" or "all harems suck"

There's an actual story that is easy to grasp.

There's a plot that is pretty fictional but still the plot is there.

Characters doesn't make you /rage

no annoying male protagonist

So can some genius(hater) tell why the rating is so low?

I think Crunchy just uses the videos they get, they don't cut videos.

Guess I will find out when my BDs arrive... next year...
