The bible clearly states you REST when you die. You rest until Jesus' return, and then he will ascend those who believe.

I honestly have no idea where people get the thought "You go to heaven when you die"

Two things:

1) "According to current medical understanding" -- as stated in the article its self, we don't know everything about what could be going on in the mind

2) It is entirely possible that he had this dream as he was waking up, or even in the process of going into the comma. Dreams happen in a much shorter time span in real life than they feel to us.

My opinion is stated.

Alot of people have experienced the whole " heaven " experience. meaning the bright light and the stairs and angels. then they get saved. OBE ( out of body experiences ) are like mad common.

This does not prove anything. I remain an agnostic.

Just because he couldn't dream during the week of coma, doesn't mean he couldn't experience a "heaven" dream while he was waking up that seemed like it lasted a while. In fact, being told it's alright and having lights flashing above him pretty much describes his senses while moving on a gurney. He then goes to an empty void that's comforting, that sounds like the coma setting in.

However, the most compelling argument is that he claims to have experienced things without using his brain, but he can remember them with his brain. If you can go to heaven when you have a near death experience, then you wouldn't remember it on waking. Your soul may remember it next time you go to heaven, but it certainly wouldn't translate to your conscious self.

Edit: Kenshin_san, you don't have the verse where it says that handy do you? It would be interesting to read. PM me it please?

Science cannot prove anything that cannot be 'seen'. Heaven is personal experience, nobody can see what heaven is like unless you`ve been there during a coma or something like that, or near death experience.

How can science even prove anything spiritual ? It`s all about experience, all personal and only you yourself can view heaven, nobody can view what heaven is for you... we all have different perceptions of heaven.

It's just hallucinations people feel while their brain is being robbed of oxygen.

we don't know enough on neuroscience or the brain in general to come up with a valid thesis on how it works... we do not know how a dream is formed so all we do is create hypothesis and educated guesses on the subject (and even our best educated guesses are still fairly off the mark)

i haven't had a subconscious dream (or have never remembered having one) in the last 10 and a half years of my life... every single dream i had was because i forced it into an image much like a lucid dream and i was wide awake while this occurs... no two minds are alike and that is proven by the fact there are different beliefs, ideals and personalities in our current society, all of which have had different experiences molding and shaping our understanding of subjects differently.

I'm not saying he didn't see it but since there is no way for physical proof beyond his word, i choose to not believe it until i see it and can prove it for myself without relying on another's help to do so... our mind will do anything to protect itself... even split itself into different personalities or repress all memories in circumstances of severe trauma (amnesia is one such method of repression). this also means it can theoretically create mental memories to cope with trauma as well, sort of like repressing a trauma through replacing it with fonder memories.

Happiness is heaven. Sadness is hell. That's what I believe since "the real heaven (like it's written on bible)" can't be proven~

Maybe it started with a guy that accidently spilled wine into a lake, and helped someone remove dust from the eye. Now all of a sudden he can turn water into wine and heal blind people.

At first when I read the title I thought the creator was trying to pick a fight. Lol

I've read a lot about people having practically the same experience. I doubt the credibility of their statements although I'd like to believe that heaven does exist.
