There is plenty of proof against the bible.
It's not even that hard to find them.
http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html
Most of genesis is wrong
http://www.huecotanks.com/debunk/genesis.html

The only evidence I've ever seen for the bible is, because it says so. Which will never be enough proof to me, I might as well believe in a science book, because at least it's honest enough to say it might be wrong.

Bullshit tbh, its total speculative crap and not science. I hate when people go 'so theres this gap in knowledge we havent understood at all yet therfor it must mean X'. Stop being such an idiot, thats not how science works. Until you full understand that system you CANNOT MAKE ANY STATEMENTS ON ITS BEHAVIOR. So a system as poorly understood as the brain doing currently strange things when in extreme situations is not to be unexpected and doesnt mean anything beyond we dont understand it yet.

This.

Plus, the neurology of dreams is really not unexplained, and coma dreams are still just dreams. While dreaming your neurons fire action potentials in similar patterns to how you used them during the day. They basically "revisit" recent memories and repeat those firing patterns, assisting long-term potentiation. This is why you are told to sleep well before you take an exam - because the act of dreaming after studying enables you to retrieve those memories more easily. But the problem with dreaming is that it's amorphous and disorganized. Some sequences repeat over and over again, and others not so much. What the dreamer experiences while dreaming may have no resemblance at all to what s/he experienced while awake.

Pastafarian heaven includes a beer volcano and a stripper factory. I dream about this kind of thing all the time, so therefore it's real.

Dreaming about stripper factories does sound alot more appealing than dreaming about a big guy with a large white beard, who impregnated a random woman so that he could make himself his son to die for the sins he originally gave us...

The bible clearly states you REST when you die. You rest until Jesus' return, and then he will ascend those who believe.

I honestly have no idea where people get the thought "You go to heaven when you die"

My understanding is the same as yours. For those who'd like the verses I Thessalonians 4: 13-18. God bless

I reviewed those verses and my understanding is a bit different. I believe St. Paul is referring to just our mortal bodies that have fallen asleep, and not what happens to our spirit. In the context too, I believe he is referring to His 2nd coming, which is different from the intermediate state of the soul after bodily death, and before Christ's 2nd coming. Ask yourself this question, what happened to the souls of those who were in Abraham's bosom after the resurrection of Christ? Are they still there?

In the Old Testament, when righteous souls died (unless they were immediately taken up such as Elijah and Enoch) they were understood to rest in Abraham's bosom (the place of the righteous dead). However, they could not enter into heaven because the gates of heaven were shut until the Son of Man opened them at the time of His ascension.

There were some also that did not know God, but lived according to their conscience. Those persons heard the Gospel from Christ when He descended to them after His crucifixion.

1 Peter 4:5-6
5 But they will have to give an accounting to him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this is the reason the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that, though they had been judged in the flesh as everyone is judged, they might live in the spirit as God does.

God bless u too!

Nah, I don't think so - but that's because it goes against my beliefs. And science can't prove more than what has already happened, IMO. I think most if not all statistics are bullshit because you haven't inquired about every single person in existence.

As to why I don't believe in a Heaven (or Hell, for that matter;) I am not and highly doubt I will ever be an entirely spiritual being (I can be as religious as possible, but I was born with a body, a need to eat, a wanting for sex and other physical pleasures, etc.) "God" is supposedly bent on suggesting people ought to live entirely spiritual lives but it isn't possible (as my boyfriend, whom I slept with and am still sleeping with before marriage [GASP] put it, God accepts that we aren't going to be the way he wants us to be..but I assume that's why we're on Earth and not up in "Heaven" somewhere.) So why should I believe I'm going somewhere enitirely spiritual later on? And why should I believe in a place that is always pleasant along with a place that is always awful (Hell?) when I believe all humans are neither? I think I'm right where I need to be, and hopefully when I die, I won't HAVE to do anything - I just want to rest.

Maybe there is a world that is entirely spiritual, but again, I don't think it's a place where everything that happens is either bad or good. I imagine it's just like ours, except the main focus is spirituality. Likewise, I'll bet there's a world that is entirely materialistic which focuses, again, entirely on materialism.

The mind is a complicated thing, it has the ability to do things some people would never thought possible. He must of been those rare few who has accomplished such a feat or there is something in the human brain besides the Neocortex that can control and/ or cause dreaming. I am no scientist ,biologist, and I have no idea what a neocortex is so I wouldn't really take what I say to heart. It just seems to me if this person was able to dream even without this neocortex thing, there may be more than one way the brain processes dreaming. This is just my hypothesis no one has to take it for fact.

It happened to him, and I don't think he gives a fuck about what anyone else says, he experienced it and believes that he did in fact meet God. If he stands by his beliefs, no one can change them. So, with that being said, I say he's just ruining relationships with his close ones by shoving beliefs down their throat if he's going around telling people this ;-;

I don't really know My dad got hit by a truck, and died officially for like 3 minutes but was revived o.o He believes he met god but god sent him back and told him he'd have a baby girl 5 years later and told him he wasnt ready for him yet. He touched his hand, and then he zapped back and was revived. He doesnt tell anyone, because he doesnt think anyone would believe him and has told few people. But, he had me five years later. I'll just go about my business with that being said. I don't really believe anything, because nothing has happened to me like that.
