It is? I wasn't questioning their worth as women and human beings.

I was lightening the mood.

If it was two dudes I'd probably call it a dogfight, or a swordfight.

It's not just the guys... this is the exact kind of generalization I'm talking about. Also, I cant quite tell if you literally read nothing in this thread and jumped to the conclusion that this was another one of the threads I was referring to.

If you're really that hurt by threads from random socially awkward people then you definitely should protest! I'm on your side! If we fight for what we believe we will succeed!

Best meme ever! Also you should probably practice religious discrimination as well that way you can offend everyone equally and complete the trifecta.

I wanted to point out something about these forums that really bothers me. Which is, pretty much every thread that begins with the words "Why do girls..." or similar, even the "possessive guys" threads. I feel threads like these unintentionally sexist in an underlying way. It promotes a sort of "us and them" segregation that is rather unfair, especially when the thread is demeaning in character.

Especially since there seems to be people here with little experience with the opposite sex. If you say things like "girls always ____! Why?!" it reinforces a concept that women and men are two separate species and always act in a specific way, but in reality everyone is different. You shouldn't rely on preconceptions of people before you even know anything about them.

Am I alone in thinking this promotes sexism?

(Also, sorry if I didn't quite articulate this in the best way... I am pretty sleep deprived.)

First: your thread started with "Why do girls..."

Second: you are not alone in "thinking this promotes sexism"

Lastly: The people who post something ''sexist'' sometimes are not even aware of the fact it's even sexist, and other times they are aware. But, back to talking about the issue in general. The genders of humans are normally "male" and "female" But, in rare cases "Other" too. The gender of the person effect's the person's mindset...to some degree. Males were raised to be "masculine" in society. Females were raised to be "feminine" in society. But, the definition of those words are being used in the old definition. The "masculine: tough. feminine: gentle" terms. Those definitions might be wrong in this centuries dictionary. But, back in the "20's" or so. This was socially known to be the definition of those terms. Now, this might be ancient history to most people, including me. But, some people today are still raising children in this fashion. This alone can cause harm to the child's mentality and can cause them to become sexist, or not. But, the social environment can cause a person to acquire this mentality too. Look, there is alot of ways to acquire this mentality. So, "why do girls" or " why do guys" post's are created for many reasons. Most of the time, it might be created for curiosity, answers, are they are right or not, trolling, and extc. But, the central focus is the opposite gender. People answering those might have the "sexist" mentality and know it, or not. But, they are trying to provide a answer to the posters question, most of the time. The questioning about the opposite gender is a normal growth pattern. So, a 5 year old boy asking "do girls fart" is normal. But, a 30 year old man asking it...can bring other question to mind. So, either or, seeing a segregation in those forms is a normal aspect about those types of questions in general. Most of the time, a sexiest would love to answer a question about the opposing gender. I have seen this happen a bunch of times, offline & online. Now, if a non sexist comes over to answer the question. This can cause a conflict between the two trying to answering the question. So, seeing that is normal too. But, either or...this was two cents about this topic....and I do not wish to type anymore...So, yeah:p

Yeah, I chose to title the thread "Why do girls..." so people might actually read it. I feel that if I had titled it "Possible sexism on the forums" I wouldn't have gotten the same kind of response I was looking for, which I could have easily been wrong. I will admit it could have been titled better. Also... sleep deprived.

As for your next points I think I already summed it up with

I feel threads like these unintentionally sexist in an underlying way

and

mainly the problem is ignorance about the situation. People really need to think logically, and in an informed manner in how they address people here.

Basically, this kind of thing, while unintentional, should be snuffed out from these forums. There is no need for it and it only is negative. People can still ask questions if they are curious, but to lump a group together, especially negatively, is ignorant and shouldn't be tolerated... yet its everywhere here. Use common sense people! That's all I ask.

I completely concur. I post how I believe every gender can be the same whenever I see one of those threads. . - .
It does promote it. :L

Haha, exactly.

Funny how trolls in these forums tend to be left alone while people who assertively but intelligently and cohesively post their opinions on controversial topics get attacked and flamed.
