IKR, I keep rolling my eyes every time a new one goes up. I gave up participating in them long ago.
And it never fails to amuse (or worse) me when guys think they know more about women's bodies than women themselves |

Its said everyone has a right to their own personal opinion. Your not tied to their opinion, but they have the right to speak whats on their minds. It doesn't mean they're right, but you can't change the world with an condescending view of things.

No, a stereotype isn't an absolute it's a generalization. Getting upset over something that doesn't apply to you is ridiculous.
(from the dictionary) Stereotype: a set of inaccurate, simplistic generalizations about a group that allows others to categorize them and treat them accordingly. |

I think the number of threads that are made about boys and girls and relationships on crunchyroll is quite funny. A website dedicated to anime/manga and the general section of the forums is filled with awkward otaku posts about the most "beta" subjects. Do you realize you're a socially awkward nerd who doesn't venture out in the world and is complaining about not having a significant other?
Not all of us, but most of us. |

Wow... where do you people think stereotypes come from? That the Committee of Stereotypes just sits down once every ten years and draws up new stereotypes for everyone to agree with? Stereotypes are a common consensus that people form about others based off of their life experiences. These are not just crazy ideas someone pulled out of their butt one day. I agree that their are exceptions to stereotypes, you would have to be an ignorant fool not to, and just because you may not align perfectly with the STEREOTYPICAL female doesn't mean that a majority of women and men DONT align with their stereotype, in fact its just the opposite.

Real girls are disgusting and you should not be having any sexual relations with real girls. Stick to 2D and you will achieve true nirvana.

Winterfells wrote: Although a lot of those types of threads can be offensive to some people, and over-generalize I participate because I keep these two thoughts in mind: 1. It's alright to be whimsical and fun on the CR forums. 2. It might serve a purpose to educate some inexperienced posters who share the same question. I think most people who reply to those threads aren't doing it with the intention of furthering discrimination, stereotypes, or bias. They do so to share their personal experiences, say something funny, or give people good advice. There are always trolls of course who can derail threads, but every forum has that problem. The loudest most obnoxious statements are the ones that are noticed the easiest, while the helpful polite posts linger in the background. I also think this is true. Most people do post to express their opinion, not in hopes to discourage, or be mean or hateful but to share their ideas, which if you look closely you will see that most of the threads you will see people linking their ideas. They may not be the same and share the same ideals but none the less having a conversation, learning and growing with other people....or I am just looking at it to closely. |

Hrmm..
I think being an anime fan in general, you're gonna meet a lot of people who are still super young and who don't have enough experience with the opposite gender. And there is nothing wrong with that, everyone eventually learns in time.. But I also think people don't understand the divisiveness being used when there are titles such as these. So it makes sense it would rub some people the wrong way. Hard to say. Most of my friends are dudes, but sometimes I don't understand them. For the longest time I thought it was simply because of the difference in gender, but I think most of it is just I am simply a weird person who has a lot of different-kinda-weird friends. meh. =[ And I guess if you're single the possibility of a relationship might come into play for some people? |

If it was two dudes I'd probably call it a dogfight, or a swordfight. ;) Dude! Take a break and a little chill i also agree with you to a point but that comment was not really that sexist and he was obviously just trying to make light of it and be friendly man! I respect women and men equally and try to look at what is good and bad in all of them and what can be improved... |
