What phrase do you use more doing good or doing well? What way is the right way of saying it?

Doing good or doing well?

example he is doing good today vs he is doing well today.
you are doing good today vs you are doing well today.

I use both. When talking to friends I'll use "I'm doing good man how bout you?"

When online or in a more formal setting I say "I'm doing well. How about yourself?"

Both seem fine to me but if you're writing an essay; using well is always best.

I say doing well, i think it's grammatically correct. But i dont really care much if the other person gets the point.

"Both of them but as above post said its better to talk in grammatical correct sentence so mostly i use i am doing well , how are you doing! and if other say i am good i can understand its American / Uk English difference.
