It's hard to remember but I think it must have been Sailor Moon. My older sister would watch it and since I was so young I just went along with it since it was cartoons on TV.
The first show I actually got really into myself though was Medabots, I loved that show so much.

Ouran High School Host Club
Someone recommended it to me, I watched five minutes and thought it wasn't for me. About two hours later, I decided to give it another chance and at least finish the first episode, and by the end of the episode I was hooked!
That was over two and a half years ago.

My first anime (before I knew what 'anime' was) was Kiki's Delivery Service. I probably saw it between the age of 5 and 6 (around 1995/1996), and it was my favorite animated-movie for a long while because it seemed so different from other animations I was used to. I also idolized Kiki because I wanted to be a witch so that I could make magical concoctions and cast spells/hexes on those that bullied me.
Further down the road of life I discovered Studio Ghibli films (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind). I was probably between the age of 14 and 16, and I realized that I had favorite-ized anime without realizing it as a child (after learning that Kiki's Delivery Service and Pokémon were considered 'anime')
I've always averted my attention from the mainstream anime, as I loved to be different from my fellow peers, and loved discovering new, meaningful anime and drama.
Today, my favorite anime is Kemono no Souja Erin ( www.crunchyroll.com/erin ). :3

I first watched Naruto when I was like, 8. I was amazed that a cartoon could possess the emotion and plot that most movies can't do. Instantly hooked.
