I want to support my favorite shows and their seiyuu, writers, production company etc. Fansub pirate sites do not help them in any way. People really seem to think they should get everything for free BUT feel they should be paid for what THEY do for a job. Saying they were already paid to show it in Japan isn't enough. You're still helping yourself to something which took a lot of effort and time to make and you're giving nothing back in return if you watch rips and fansubs. True, I wish they made it easier for me to support them by licensing all of it to watch where I live. The regional licensing still drives me mad so I hate it when Viz gets a show but I can pay for Crunchyroll, Funimation (if their service is working, bad again today, sigh) or TAN and I do support them when they give me good service on shows I enjoy. |

I don't give anything in return since it's impossible for me to do so because of region restrictions. If THEY don't want my money, why would I care whether to watch it subbed or not? The best I can do is pay for CR to watch a limited number of shows, of which I could also easily watch subbed but I still keep premium here anyway. |

I'm not sure how crunchyroll doles out its money, by number of views or what so I don't know if this practice manages to send any money to shows you can't watch here. Probably not. I understand what you are saying. Regional licensing is really annoying. |

If THEY don't want my money, why would I care whether to watch it subbed or not? Well, there's always proxy servers. A proxy server to Denmark or Sweden would give you a big chunk of Crunchyroll's series. Unfortunately it would then be recorded as viewership from Denmark or Sweden, so it wouldn't help your country get series. So someone who wants to encourage streaming to their own country would only use a proxy server when the show is region blocked. The best I can do is pay for CR to watch a limited number of shows, of which I could also easily watch subbed but I still keep premium here anyway. That does generate royalties for those show that do allow a license to your country, so it both rewards the creators and encourages the production committees to repeat those license terms. Whether or not a series royalties covers the minimum guarantee, the demographics of the viewership of the show will still be available to be reported back to the licensor. |

Hmmm... a two minute show reduced down to 1minute and twenty five seconds after the thirty five seconds of op only to have the voices sound like chipmunks on speed as well as the actions of the characters equals not a remote beginning of what went on in the first two episodes.
IMHO... not worth the precious simulcast slot that it took up. |
