i honestly don't. i would love to share a few series here and there but it doesn't have to be anime. its not like anime is my blood. i've got other interest, and it would be more fun to learn something new.
if you both share different oppinions of certain things that happen in an anime, the only thing keeping you together is the fresh and new "love" once thats gone in a month or 2 your just ganna have annoying fights and not the fun ones. and eventually have a pissy breakup.
i would like a common interest, but not particularly anime.
and this thread will get closed due to a similar one in the generals forum.

I think you are reading the question wrong... but I agree that if you're dating a girl just because she happens to like anime, then you're doing it wrong. It would be like dating a girl just because she happens to have big boobs and a nice figure. Or dating one because she's asian. You're going after a fantasy and not dating the girl for herself.
I would like to date a girl who is in to similar interests me (including anime/manga), she doesn't need to be into the exact same things I am because that would be boring and a bit creepy... differences are good.

Who else wants to be with a guy that is compatible and likes anime?
*raises hand*
I've mostly dated people that thought anime was only for nerds and weirdos, so they wouldn't watch it with me willingly.
I did date one guy that liked anime, but he was a little too... different socially? It's hard to word. Interest wise we were great but socially he was a tad too awkward.

If I ever decide to get married again, then sure, it'd be a plus. For now, I'm happily divorced, and I expect to stay that way for a while.
Edit: I'm in a relationship now, and she enjoys anime and gaming as much as I do. Whether or not marriage will happen, it's far too soon to even speculate at this moment. Whatever may happen, I'm quite happy.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter if she likes anime or not. From my experience, they help start relationships. I'd rather have someone who understands that anime and game are an important part of life.

That's a very reasonable way of looking at it.

I prefer to watch shows (anime or otherwise) alone. Rom-coms are good to watch with a partner, but the serious shows are much easier to pay attention to when you only have your thoughts to worry about. Plus, I know way too many people that provide commentary during movies, which is definitely annoying. I feel like even if she was into anime, I might still want to watch it by myself -- although I've never dated a girl that's into anime, so perhaps that view will change.
