Don't get married unless you have a gun pointed at your head, even if your SO shares manga with you. Unless you are getting civil benefits (taxes, insurance, child care, joint home ownership, etc) from marriage, it's just a horrible money trap full of pain and drudgery.

Yeah, I completely agree... I'm too old for marriage, but I would not say no to shacking up with a girl. If she's been divorced then that just means she got the "I want a wonderful marriage ceremony with all the trappings" out of her system. lol

Oh yeah. Anything that you need to hire a lawyer to get out of doing is a bad idea in the first place.
Living in sin is preferable, but make sure that you don't pay more than your share on the housing. Even in non-legal relationships you can get sued for alimony upon breakup and end up losing your house, your business, whatever. All it takes is a couple years of cohabitation with someone who earns (and pays) less than you, and you're open to lawsuits. Even if you win them, you can spend years blowing twenty, thirty thousand dollars proving that your stuff is legally yours.
The best way to protect yourself is to make sure your partner always keeps his/her own place. And really, if your SO can't support him/herself, then he/she isn't worth it. Not at our age, anyway.

I wonder if that is a by-state thing, because I have never heard of anyone getting sued for alimony when they weren't married here in Michigan.

If you can have a chance of convincing a judge that you've depended on someone long enough to develop a "standard of living" then you can sue for alimony on common-law grounds in most states. It has been used by same-sex couples due to marriage law issues. Hopefully it won't be a problem anymore when all states have established marriage equity, but until then watch your ass. Precedent is precedent, and you don't have to be gay to get screwed (ha ha I'm funny).

It's sad to see so many people abhorrent to the idea of marriage. I've been quite happy for the past 16 years thank you very much. Just have to find the right person and not "settle".

I'm not abhorrent to the idea, if someones happy in their marriage, then thats fine with me. I just dont see the need for getting legally hitched when all it is is another tax I have to pay - and yes, if you're paying something to the government, its a tax, regardless of how the politicians try to candy-coat it. I can be just as happy in a common-law marriage as I can in a "legal" marriage. The only thing separating them really is a piece of paper and what amounts to a penalty-fee (lol).

And two people doesn't equate to "so many".

Agree with you all on some of the things you said. I'm into anime alot more then gaming these's days or sometimes it changes if i find real good anime to watch. Anyway finding girl who is into anime and liking the same things like me is hard to find these's days around my area. Sometimes i wish life was like this anime little bit CHUUNIBYOU.

PS: I would merry girl who is into anime and likes the same anime like me or i guess her too.

If you can ever meet one of these illusive creatures, good luck capturing it's heart.

If I ever met a girl that enjoys anime and gaming, but still likes to do things outside like hiking and such, and doesn't smoke, I'd be good.

If I could watch Clannad or any other anime for that matter, with the exception of ecchi, with one of my future girlfriends, and enjoy it to a great extent, I feel like not only would it be a great experience for us, but it would help build a stronger relationship between us. Honestly, different animes have taught me so many life lessons which I find invaluable. It would be a blessing to be able to share those kinds of experiences with your significant other.

Well at the very least your partner has to accept this side of you. Im guessing anime is a huge part of your life. Can`t be with someone hating on anime.
