I do prefer to find a girl that shares my same interests. I once had a girlfriend that was perfect for me because we had all our interests in common, anime, games, comics, favorite movies, music bands, among others. However that is not a guarantee of eternal happiness, love is more complicated and it doesn't depend on interests at all. Just like I have had girlfriends that don't share interests with me and I've loved them with my life as well. My answer is it doesn't really matter at the end of the day, but I would prefer it anyway.

Well I would prefer a partner who shares my interests, but I wouldn't simply disregard somone because they do not watch anime or read manga.
Although being able to respect each others hobbies is a must realy. I don't think I would forsee a long and happy union with somone who belittles the hobby and considers it a waste of time and/or money.
But as people have said, having somone to watch series with would be nice.

Probably, common interests would be a good thing. Problem is finding a girl who likes it as much as me. Half my guy friends don't even like anime. I can only think of 2 or 3 girls around here that go to cons. So sad :'( but whatever. I also wouldn't not date a girl if she didn't like it.

That would be awesome!  but as long as a person respects your intrests I wouldn't say its a requirement ^_^.
It's fun to introduce people to anime and see their journey to becoming an otaku

Found a girl who loved anime ( still cosplay's to this day ) but got involved with one of her friends and ended up marrying her and wouldn't change a thing even though she has no interest in it.

My ex bf used to tease me and put me down because I love anime :-( I think I'd like to have someone who will watch anime with me and we could cry and discuss about it, because Anime is pretty much... my only hobby... lol xD
I think a relationship can work even if your partner does not like to watch anime, as long as he/she respects what you like and gives you the time to do it (but you also need to give time to him/her, which will actually cut your time into half... or you'll end up doing something more than the other and you'll be a bit unhappy in that matter...). You guys just need to talk about it and see to what terms you can both be happy!
I recommend you find someone who loves anime <3 Then you don't have to divide your time but spend it together along with the one you love <3
