This topic is what character would you want to be, if all the characters you want to be suffer horribly then I'd say that qualifies you as a masochist. I enjoyed watching most of those shows and liked watching many of those characters, but I'd never want to be any of them. Especially if I had the choice of any character in any anime.

Seriously, most of the answers in this topic are boring. Why would people pick characters they think are the most similar to themselves? You're telling me that out of all the outlandish and fantastic characters with the most ridiculous of stories the ones you want to be are the ones that have the most in common with you? If you just want the exact same life as what you have right now then why bother even answering this question?

How about picking someone like Claire Stanfield from Baccano!? He's a badass, crazy motherfucker who's convinced that the world is all just a dream he's having, and no one can prove him wrong despite him just being a normal human in a universe with immortals, vampires, dullahans, and all sorts of other freaks.

Though I still stand by my original answer of Arlong from One Piece because he's a fucking shark.
